Pop phenom Taylor Swift is the biggest music artist in the world.

She forgot her humble start in the industry playing country music.

And Taylor Swift was called out by country star John Rich for one reason she never expected.

Legendary country music singer Toby Keith tragically passed away recently at the age of 62 after a battle with stomach cancer.

Keith was one of the biggest names in country music, and helped many of today’s stars get their start in the business.

Tributes poured in for him from country music and beyond because of the lives he touched with his music and charity work, specifically his work on behalf of America’s veterans and active duty military personnel.

A video was posted on social media by journalist Matt Couch of a young Taylor Swift praising Keith in 2005.

“Going to be interesting to see what she says about Toby Keith,” Couch wrote on X. “Without Toby Keith there wouldn’t be a Taylor Swift. Toby signed her to his record label and gave her, her start. Hope she recognizes that today. like she should.”

In the interview from 2005, Swift talks about being awestruck by the “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue hitmaker.”

“You’re in the room with him and you can feel it. There’s a power there and you’re just like, ‘Oh my God.’ I don’t think I’ll ever get to a point where I won’t see him and be like, ‘Oh my God, that’s Toby Keith,’” Swift said.

Keith founded the country music record label that gave Swift her started in the business before she transitioned to pop music.

Country music star John Rich responded to the post and wondered why Swift was silent on social media about Keith’s passing.

“When is@taylorswift13 going to share some words about Toby Keith? The man who discovered her, got her the 1st record deal? Taylor, where are you today? #TobyKeith,” Rich wrote on X.

Keith helped Swift get her career off the ground when she signed with Big Machine Records, which was founded by music executive Scott Borchetta and him.

There was no mention of Keith’s passing on Swift’s social media, or during her appearance at the Grammy Awards where she took home Album of the Year for a record fourth time.

Swift and Keith were opposite ends of the political spectrum.

Keith – a former conservative Oklahoma Democrat until 2008 – performed at former President Donald Trump’s inauguration in 2017.

Swift endorsed President Joe Biden in the 2020 Election, and has become a typical woke, left-wing celebrity.

She was silent – at least publicly – at the loss of one of the people who made it possible for her to become a megastar.
