The Democrat Media Complex is still out to get Donald Trump.
They realize he’s still wildly popular within the Republican Party.
And Trump could be planning to drive a stake through the heart of one high-ranking Republican squish.
A growing number of Republicans are becoming exasperated with Mitch McConnell.
The Senate GOP leader has also made an enemy in Donald Trump who remains the most popular Republican in the country.
And Trump could be working to find a primary challenger for McConnell in Kentucky.
The Wall Street Journal reports:
Mitch McConnell’s record-long reign as Senate Republican leader has lasted long enough for former President Donald Trump. Mr. Trump has spoken recently with senators and allies about trying to depose Mr. McConnell and whether any Republicans are interested in mounting a challenge, according to people familiar with the conversations . . . They have also split on policy this year. Mr. McConnell joined 18 fellow Senate Republicans in voting for a roughly $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, despite Mr. Trump saying the deal “makes the Republicans look weak, foolish, and dumb.”
Democrats convinced themselves that challenger Amy McGrath had a chance of unseating McConnell, but he won re-election easily.
However, a candidate from McConnell’s Right could pose a different challenge.
The Journal continued:
In a recent interview, Mr. Trump declined to discuss whether he was recruiting challengers for Mr. McConnell. The former president did say he wanted Senate Republicans to oust the Kentuckian from the leadership position he has held for almost 15 years. “They ought to,” Mr. Trump said. “I think he’s very bad for the Republican Party.”
McConnell’s establishment brand of politics is wearing thin with conservative voters.
They’re tired of Republican candidates crowing about federal spending while voting for every single omnibus spending bill without challenge or complaint.
The voters are also tired of Republicans who capitulate to the Left on every single cultural issue.
McConnell is one of the most effective political operators in Washington, D.C., so any primary challenger would have a significant uphill battle.
But the frustration among base voters is real.
Entrenched leaders in the Democrat Party like Joe Crowley suddenly found themselves on the outs in favor of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
If McConnell strays too far away from the base, he could potentially suffer a similar fate.
