The FBI took the unprecedented step of raiding Donald Trump’s home at Mar-A-Lago.
Never in American history has the DOJ gone after the former President.
Worse yet, Trump is the favorite to be the Republican nominee in 2024.
Thus far, the pretext for the raid is flimsy – if the government was so worried about classified documents, the feds could have taken them in early June when they simply told him to put a different lock on the documents.
The justification for the raid looks even worse upon learning that the FBI may have taken privileged attorney-client communications during the seizure.
Fox News reported that “the FBI seized boxes containing records covered by attorney-client privilege and potentially executive privilege during its raid of former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, sources familiar with the investigation told Fox News, adding that the Justice Department opposed Trump lawyers’ request for the appointment of an independent, special master to review the records . . . The FBI seized classified records from Trump’s Palm Beach home during its unprecedented Monday morning raid, including some marked as top secret. But the former president is disputing the classification, saying the records have been declassified…Attorney-client privilege refers to a legal privilege that keeps communications between an attorney and their client confidential.”
The Left’s sudden comfort with flagrant violations of civil liberties is deeply concerning.
For example, so-called “liberals” cheered when the FBI seized the records of former Trump attorney Michael Cohen.
Fox News added that “some records could be covered by executive privilege, which gives the president of the United States and other officials within the executive branch the authority to withhold certain sensitive forms of advice and consultation between the president and senior advisers . . . [D]ue to attorney-client privilege, Trump’s team asked the Justice Department for their position on whether they would support a third party, independent special master to review those records, but sources told Fox News that the DOJ notified Trump’s team that they would oppose that request.”
The DOJ under Biden has been completely weaponized, and the Left is going along with it.
If this were a Republican administration engaging in these tactics, the entire Left would be losing their minds and calling them fascists.
But when Democrats engage in fascist behavior, they’re “preserving democracy.”
