Democrats act as if Republicans have moved to the Right.
In reality, radicals have dragged the middle wildly to the Left.
Now Democrats are pushing for one national law that will turn your stomach.
The anonymous Supreme Court leaker who released a draft opinion from Samuel Alito got what he or she wanted.
The leaker, presumably a leftist, wanted to spark outrage over the conservative majority on the court overturning Roe v. Wade.
And that’s exactly what has happened.
Democrats are hoping the abortion issue will give them momentum going into the 2022 Midterms.
They’re also trying to revive the insanely radical Women’s Health Protection Act.
The measure barely passed through the House with one Democrat defecting, but was a nonstarter in the Senate.
The bill would require a 60-vote threshold unless Democrats kill the Senate filibuster and pass it with a strict party-line vote and Kamala Harris as the tiebreaker.
So far, moderate Democrats Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin have been unwilling to nuke the filibuster.
Manchin is a Democrat Senator in arguably the reddest state in America, so he would have to be crazy to go along with it.
Nevertheless, the Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer wants a vote on the bill.
If somehow passed, the Women’s Health Protection Act would permit abortions in all 50 states up to the point of birth.
Only China, North Korea, and the United States allow late-term abortions, which shows how extreme the proposal actually is.
A majority of Americans do not support late-term abortions – only a fringe radical minority of the Left are in favor of it.
Abortion is one of the issues where Democrats have moved to the fringes.
They once believed in “safe, legal, and rare,” but have long abandoned that position.
Many liberal legal scholars admit Roe was a poorly decided case even though they agreed with the outcome.
Even Ruth Bader Ginsburg believed that Roe went too far.
She wrote in a law review article, “Around that extraordinary decision . . . a well-organized and vocal right-to-life movement rallied and succeeded, for a considerable time, in turning the legislative tide in the opposite direction . . . [Roe v. Wade] invited no dialogue with legislators . . . Instead, it seemed entirely to remove the ball from the legislators’ court.”
If the Democrats believe rioting and acts of violence over abortion will save them in the Midterms, they could be in for a rude awakening.
