Alvin Bragg faced pressure from his fellow Democrats.
It was only a matter of time until the Soros-backed District Attorney caved in.
And now Alvin Bragg filed one criminal charge that will have Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez jumping for joy.
Bragg’s office will charge 24-year-old Marine veteran Daniel Penny on second degree manslaughter charges after Penny put mentally ill homeless man Jordan Neely in a chokehold to restrain Neely after Neely was harassing female passengers on the subway.
Neely – who had been arrested 40 times in the past – had a history of violent behavior including punching a 67 year-old woman in the face and trying to push bystanders on the subway tracks.
Ocasio-Cortez and other woke leftists tried to turn this into another George Floyd situation and start race riots.
Before any police completed any investigation Ocasio-Cortez smeared Penny as a murderer, which amplified pressure on Bragg to charge the marine veteran.
“Jordan Neely was murdered. But bc Jordan was houseless and crying for food in a time when the city is raising rents and stripping services to militarize itself while many in power demonize the poor, the murderer gets protected w/ passive headlines + no charges. It’s disgusting,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter.
Woke leftists portrayed Neely – who has a history of violence and assaulting women – as a colorful character who was a beloved figure on the New York subway because he impersonated Michael Jackson and could perform the moonwalk dance.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams also cast Neely’s death in racial terms.
“One of our own is dead,” Adams declared. “A Black man, Black like me – a man named Jordan, the name I gave my son, a New Yorker who struggled with tragedy, trauma and mental illness, a man whose last words were to cry for help, a man named Jordan Neely.”
New York City had 40 different opportunities to get Neely off the street and into an institution best suited to care for someone with his mental issues.
But in reality, Neely was one of the many mentally ill and dangerous homeless people that Soros-backed DAs like Bragg turn loose on the streets because they think enforcing quality of life laws is racist.
