The House Foreign Affairs Committee is investigating the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan that was botched from beginning to end by President Joe Biden.
13 American soldiers were killed by an ISIS suicide bomber at the Kabul airport during the chaotic withdrawal.
Sgt. Tyler Vargas-Andrews, a Marine who survived the attack, in emotional testimony before the committee said that his team identified and tracked the suicide bomber throughout the day.
He said that he requested permission to kill the suspected bomber with a sniper rifle but was repeatedly denied permission to take the shot.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, blamed the deaths of the American soldiers on “gutless people” in Biden’s State Department who wouldn’t allow Vargas-Andrews to take out the suicide bomber.
“Those 13 . . . brave Americans should be with their loved ones today,” Burchett told Newsmax.
He said the soldiers died tragically “because of our failure and these gutless people that continuously send our American fighting men and women into combat and not allow them to fight.”
Burchett called the catastrophic failure to authorize the sniper kill “pathetic” and promised to call in the people behind the decision and embarrass them in hearings.
He said that Vargas-Andrews did everything was trained to do but “was told by his superiors in the State Department, a bunch of gutless wonders, that he could not take that man out.”
The Tennessee Congressman ripped into Joe Biden for trying to tout the Afghanistan withdrawal as a massive success.
“Because they’re a bunch of idiots; and the national media are lapdogs to them,” Burchett said.
He said that Biden is “not coherent. His cognizance level is below what it should be and they got him elected, so now they’ve got to back him and everything he does. And they’re just lapdogs to him.”
Burchett said the rules of engagement for soldiers needed to be changed so that they can engage the enemy without handcuffs.
The U.S. “should not send American fighting men and women to the end of these so-called peacekeeping roles and expect them to deal with a bunch of savages that have been acting like this for thousands of years,” Burchett explained.
Joe Biden’s poor planning and execution created chaos at the Kabul airport during the withdrawal and left soldiers scrambling to deal with the disaster.
The regime compounded the problem by handcuffing a Marine sniper from taking out the suicide bomber.
“This is ridiculous,” Burchett said. “This is a complete failure. This is just a typical day in the Biden White House.”
