Florida Governor Ron DeSantis escalated his attacks on Donald Trump.
DeSantis waded into the deep end of the pool with what he said.
And Ron DeSantis made a guarantee about Donald Trump that made everyone sit up and take notice.
During a call with donors ahead of the launch of his 2024 Presidential campaign, DeSantis blasted Donald Trump as unelectable.
DeSantis broke down the state of the 2024 race saying he, Trump, and Joe Biden were the only three credible potential nominees.
However, DeSantis claimed Donald Trump was a guaranteed loser in 2024 and that DeSantis was the only plausible Republican who can win.
“You have basically three people at this point that are credible in this whole thing,” DeSantis stated. “Biden, Trump and me, and I think of those three, two have a chance to get elected President — Biden and me, based on all the data in the swing states, which is not great for the former President and probably insurmountable because people aren’t going to change their view of him.”
DeSantis said voters wanted to get rid of Joe Biden but DeSantis ripped Trump as too toxic to get the job done.
“I think the voters want to move on from Biden,” adding, “They just want a vehicle they can get behind” but “there’s just too many voters that don’t view Trump as that vehicle.”
DeSantis also appeared to attack Trump as immoral, claiming an unnamed Iowa voter said he would back DeSantis because he didn’t like Trump’s values.
“You know, Trump was somebody, we liked his policies but we didn’t like his values. And with you, we like your policies but also know that you share our values,” DeSantis added.
Ron DeSantis is clearly going to trade punches with Trump in the GOP nomination fight.
But it remains to be seen if the argument that Trump doesn’t share Republicans values and can’t win in November will take hold.
