Merrick Garland admitted he’d advance this radical agenda if confirmed as Attorney General

Since it became clear that Joe Biden and the Democrats would control Washington, D.C. conservatives have been waiting to see just how far “moderate” Joe would go.

It was never a matter of whether he’d ram through the Democrats’ far-left agenda, but always a matter of how far he’d go.

And Merrick Garland just admitted he’d advance this radical agenda if confirmed as Attorney General.

Throughout the past few weeks, the Senate has been going through the process of confirming Joe Biden’s nominations for various positions in his administration.

While the process is generally a formality, it does provide the American people a glimpse into the political philosophies of those who will be running the federal government for the next four years.

So far, there has been no better example of that than the confirmation hearing of Biden Attorney General nominee Merrick Garland.

Garland, who was previously nominated to serve on the Supreme Court by Barack Obama, admitted on Monday that the Department of Justice would enforce Joe Biden’s radical gun control agenda as Attorney General.

The admission came in response to questioning from Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) on whether or not Garland supported banning certain types of firearms.

“Well, as I’m sure you know, the President is a strong supporter of gun control and has been an advocate all his professional life on this question,” Garland responded.

“The role of the Justice Department is to advance the policy program of the administration as long as it is consistent with the law,” he continued. “Where there is room under the law for the President’s policies to be pursued, then I think the President is entitled to pursue them.”

Interestingly, though, Garland did concede that the Supreme Court has given “a little indication” about the extent of the Second Amendment through its decisions in two landmark cases – D.C. v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago – that reaffirmed the fundamental nature of Americans’ right to keep and bear arms.

Later on in the questioning, Garland also admitted that his view is not “totally controlled” by Supreme Court precedents.

The stark contrast between Garland’s flawed assertion that the role of the DOJ “is to advance the policy program of the administration” and his admission that the Supreme Court has clearly ruled on the fundamental nature of the Second Amendment, should raise plenty of concerns.

The manner in which Garland chose to answer questions on the Second Amendment seems to indicate that he’s fully prepared to enforce Biden’s radical gun control agenda, while putting the onus on the Supreme Court to stop them.

Given the current makeup of the Supreme Court, it’s possible they could rule such extreme measures unconstitutional, though even then it would take some time for such a process to play out.

At the same time, the Biden administration is currently in the process of examining whether or not they could and should expand the Supreme Court, allowing the Democrats to pack the court with enough far-left Justices to flip the court’s ideological make-up in their favor.

Essentially, through Garland’s confirmation hearing, it’s clear that the Biden administration is hellbent on forcing a radical gun control agenda on the American people at any cost.

And with his confirmation as Attorney General all but certain, it’s only a matter of time before Merrick Garland begins helping the Biden administration do just that.
