Impeachment may be inevitable after this top Republican dropped a huge bombshell on Joe Biden

President Biden’s awful handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan has many questioning whether he’s mentally fit to hold office.

Millions of Americans are calling for him and other top officials to resign.

But now impeachment may be inevitable after this top Republican dropped a huge bombshell on Joe Biden.

The Biden administration has taken several major missteps in the past few months that have put Joe Biden on the hot seat, including ignoring the border crisis and enacting an illegal eviction moratorium preventing landlords from evicting tenants for not paying their rent.

But none of that tops how poorly Biden handled the United States’ exit from Afghanistan.

There’s now growing pressure for Republicans to consider taking up impeaching President Biden should the GOP take back the U.S. House in 2022.

In response to the talk of impeachment, House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has said that “if Biden takes an illegal action, we would move to impeachment.”

Fox News reports:

In an interview this week with Fox News, McCarthy once again charged that “the Democrats used impeachment for political reasons.” And he emphasized that Republicans “think impeachment is so serious it should only be taken” as a most severe action.

But if the longtime congressman from California becomes House speaker in 2023, would he rule out impeachment?

“If Biden takes an illegal action, we would move impeachment,” McCarthy told Fox News. “But we’re not going to move impeachment for political purposes.”

McCarthy is right to note that impeachment should be based on illegal activity rather than political whims and partisanship.

But the truth is, Biden has already crossed the line multiple times in his Presidency, showing no signs of stopping.

There’s a well-founded argument that Biden has already committed illegal and unconstitutional acts.

When Biden announced the eviction moratorium, he admitted in the White House press release that he was aware that his administration lacked any legal authority to enact parts of the moratorium and it wouldn’t stand a court challenge.

However, Biden said “by the time it gets litigated, it will probably give some additional time while we’re getting that $45 billion out to people.”

So his administration knowingly peddled an unconstitutional order to buy time for his administration and political allies.

The very first person to be impeached in United States history was impeached because he was a judge handing down rulings he knew were unlawful and unconstitutional.

Secondly, and more powerfully, Biden’s bungling of the Afghanistan exit has many saying it’s absolutely treasonous.

Treason, one of only two capital offenses in the Constitution, would certainly meet the “high crime” standard for impeachable offenses laid out in the Constitution.

So Republicans have real offenses to impeach Biden over, rather than “political purposes” as McCarthy notes the GOP should stay away from.

Joe Biden’s skydiving approval ratings indicate more and more Americans are questioning Biden’s fitness to hold office.

Which does give Republicans some political capital for pursuing impeachment.
