Fireworks won’t be the only thing going up this 4th of July.
Everything from hamburgers to potato salad will be soaring as well.
Because the cost to celebrate freedom is skyrocketing this year as Biden puts American farmers in the line of fire.
It turns out a strange, but very predictable, thing happens when you set out to impose socialism on a nation.
Prices go up. Way up. On everything.
And that means this year, as Americans get ready to celebrate our independence, the cost of an average July 4th Cookout will be 17% higher than last year.
U.S. consumers will, on average, pay $69.68 for their favorite Independence Day cookout foods, including cheeseburgers, pork chops, chicken breasts, homemade potato salad, strawberries and ice cream, according to a new American Farm Bureau Federation Marketbasket survey.
The average cost of a summer cookout for 10 people is $69.68, up 17% or about $10 from last year.
This increase is a result of ongoing supply chain disruptions caused mostly by the Biden administration policies and programs, Biden’s inflationary policies, and the disruptions caused by the war in Ukraine.
But another major factor is the Biden administration’s anti-farming policies.
Farmers are feeling the price-point pain of Biden’s policies, just like the people they grow food for, according to AFBF Chief Economist Roger Cryan.
“Despite higher food prices, the supply chain disruptions and inflation have made farm supplies more expensive; like consumers, farmers are price-takers not price-makers,” Cryan said. Adding, “Bottom line, in many cases the higher prices farmers are being paid aren’t covering the increase in their farm expenses. The cost of fuel is up and fertilizer prices have tripled.”
The Marketbasket survey shows the largest year-to-year price increase was for ground beef.
Survey results showed the retail price for 2 pounds of ground beef at $11.12, up 36% from last year.
Several other foods in the survey, including chicken breasts, pork chops, homemade potato salad, fresh-squeezed lemonade, pork & beans, hamburger buns and cookies, also increased in price.
The year-to-year direction of the Marketbasket survey tracks with the federal government’s Consumer Price Index report for food and general inflation across the U.S. economy.
Both the index and the Marketbasket show increases of more than 10% compared to year-ago levels as Bidenflation continues to wreak havoc on the American economy.
“According to the Agriculture Department’s revised Food Dollar Series, farmers currently receive approximately 8% of every food marketing dollar,” Cryan said. “The farmers’ share of the retail food dollar is as low as 2% to 4% for highly processed foods such as bread and cereal, and can be 35% or more for some fresh products.”
The continued “green” policies by the Biden administration, as well as the efforts to move the nation to a socialist economic system will only worsen this situation.
Especially hard hit are the small and medium size farms who are struggling to stay afloat.
And who is being aided by this economic turmoil? Communist China, who is quietly scooping up farmland from struggling farmers who can’t survive Biden’s war on the American farmers.
