Beto O’Rourke went wildly to the Left during his ill-fated presidential run in 2020.
And his past remarks are coming back to haunt him.
Now, O’Rourke was forced to backtrack on one idiotic statement he made about the Second Amendment.
Beto O’Rourke failed in his bid to unseat Texas Senator Ted Cruz and went nowhere in the 2020 Democratic primary, but he’s back again running for governor of Texas.
During the presidential primary, O’Rourke said that “hell yes” he wanted to take away people’s AR-15s.
Needless to say, that did not go over well with Texans.
Trailing incumbent Republican Greg Abbott by as many as 11 points, O’Rourke is desperately attempting to shed his radical past.
When recently asked about gun confiscation, O’Rourke said:
“I’m not interested in taking anything from anyone. What I want to make sure that we do is defend the Second Amendment…I want to make sure that we protect our fellow Texans far better than we’re doing right now. And that we listen to law enforcement, which Greg Abbott refused to do. He turned his back on them when he signed that permitless carry bill that endangers the lives of law enforcement in a state that’s seen more cops and sheriff’s deputies gunned down than in any other.”
But O’Rourke has proven to be completely untrustworthy.
He had previously said that “we should not see our friends, our family members, our neighbors shot up with weapons that were originally designed for use on a battlefield.”
The Democrats constantly trot out the “weapon of war” lie.
Fully-automatic rifles are heavily regulated and have not been used in mass shootings, contrary to the left-wing narrative.
Even in his pivot, he was still advocating for gun control.
Joe Biden, arguably the most anti-gun president in American history, initially wanted O’Rourke to spearhead his gun control initiative.
Ironically, O’Rourke recently said that he didn’t want any national Democrats campaigning for him in Texas, but he really just meant Biden.
Biden’s sinking approval numbers have been a drag on the entire party.
O’Rourke’s leftist ideals are well documented.
In addition to gun control, he advocated for tearing down the existing border barrier in El Paso.
And when he ran for Senate against Cruz, he supported the anti-American national anthem protests.
O’Rourke is too radical for America, and he’s certainly too radical for Texas.
Everyone can see through his transparent swivel on gun rights.
