A major shift is underway in the lives of Hollywood celebrities.

The dark side of the movie business is causing them to reevaluate everything.

And Mark Wahlberg started one surprising trend in Hollywood that no one saw coming.

Mark Wahlberg starts the trend of actors leaving Los Angeles behind

Some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities are leaving Los Angeles to raise their families elsewhere.

The trend of celebrities bailing on Tinseltown first got widespread attention when actor Mark Wahlberg, his wife, and their four children relocated from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in 2022.

He said that he moved his family out of Los Angeles to give them a better life.

“So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us,” Wahlberg said about the move.

“So, we came here to just kind of give ourselves a new look, a fresh start for the kids, and there’s a lot of opportunity here,” Wahlberg continued. “I’m really excited about the future.”

Now Wahlberg, an outspoken Catholic, can raise his family away from the depravity and decay that’s plagued Los Angeles.

Hollywood A-Listers follow Wahlberg’s trend

Barbie star Ryan Gosling and his wife, actress Eva Mendes, moved away from Los Angeles to raise their two young daughters, aged 9 and 7.

“For them, the most important job is their girls. Everything else comes second,” an insider told People. “And their girls are thriving. They left L.A. to live a bit further north, away from Hollywood. They didn’t want the girls to grow up around other celebrity kids.”

Psychologist Michelle Solomon told Fox News Digital that a reason that celebrities could be moving out of Hollywood to raise their kids is to shield them from the spotlight.

“There are countless fan accounts of celebrity children online,” Solomon explained. “Parents, whether Hollywood people or not, may not want their children being photographed or potentially exposed and scrutinized online. The public lifestyle associated with Hollywood may no longer be appealing to parents raising children in the digital age.”

Actor Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves, and their children moved back to his native Texas after living in Malibu.

Alves said that moving to the Lone Star State allowed them to establish new family traditions.

“In Texas, we were going to the church that we like to attend every Sunday. Sports became a stronger tradition for the kids,” Alves said.

McConaughey added that his family enjoyed “rituals” in Texas.

“Ritual came back, whether that was Sunday church, sports, dinner together as a family every night, or staying up after that telling stories in the kitchen, sitting at the island pouring drinks and nibbling while retelling them all in different ways than we told them before,” McConaughey remarked.

Other stars like Sylvester Stallone, Katherine Heigl, and Nicole Kidman have also bailed on Los Angeles to live their lives outside Hollywood.

The Hollywood elite are joining the growing exodus of Californians who are looking for a better life somewhere else.
