Jim Jordan Demands Answers After FBI Used a Group That Paid KKK Members to Spy on Catholics

Now Jim Jordan wants every document that proves it.

And what's already on the record is worse than you think.

The Scheme Prosecutors Say the SPLC Was Running

The Southern Poverty Law Center spent 50 years selling itself as America's watchdog against hate.

Federal prosecutors say it was running a scheme that fed money directly to the groups it claimed to be fighting.

The DOJ charged the SPLC last week with wire fraud, bank fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering – alleging the group used shell companies and prepaid cards to funnel more than $3 million in donor money to paid informants inside the KKK and the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement.

Those informants weren't just watching the groups from the inside.

According to the indictment, one of them helped plan the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville – the same rally that left a woman dead and became the defining image of American white supremacy for the next decade.

The SPLC was denouncing Unite the Right on its website at the exact same moment one of its paid operatives was helping organize it.

Biden's FBI Was Using This Group to Go After Catholics

Here's what Jim Jordan revealed that your television won't cover.

The FBI Richmond Field Office produced an internal memo framing traditional Latin Mass Catholics as a category of people more prone to violent crime.

The sourcing? The Southern Poverty Law Center.

FBI Director Christopher Wray later called the memo "appalling" – an inexcusable breach of religious freedom – and retracted it.

But Jordan's letter to the SPLC revealed the Richmond memo was not an isolated incident.

It was one of more than a dozen FBI documents that used the SPLC as a research source.

The Biden DOJ didn't just consult the SPLC occasionally.

It put them on the inside – holding regular meetings, handing SPLC employees early access to federal law enforcement data, and letting SPLC staff train federal prosecutors on civil rights enforcement.

They gave a group now charged with money laundering a seat at the table of federal law enforcement.

Then the Biden DOJ opened a criminal investigation into the SPLC.

Then they closed it.

Trump's DOJ picked it back up – and filed the indictment.

Congress Is Now Coming for the Judges Too

Jordan's Judiciary Committee demanded documents from the SPLC by April 30.

That deadline isn't symbolic.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has already hinted publicly that more indictments related to the SPLC are coming.

Senate Republicans escalated even further – targeting Nancy Abudu, the SPLC's former litigation director, whom Biden appointed to a lifetime seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.

"Every individual associated with the SPLC should have to answer for what they knew about the organization's extremist ties, and when," Senate Judiciary Republicans wrote.

Abudu now holds a lifetime federal judgeship.

She got that job because Biden decided the woman who ran litigation for a group now charged with funding the KKK was qualified to serve on one of America's most powerful courts.

What This Actually Means

The SPLC's "hate map" was never really about fighting hate.

It was a blacklist that corporations used to defund conservative organizations.

Moms for Liberty was on it.

Turning Point USA was on it.

The Family Research Council was on it – and in 2012, a gunman walked into FRC headquarters with 100 rounds of ammunition and told the FBI he found his target using the SPLC's list.

The SPLC condemned the shooting.

Then they kept the Family Research Council on the hate map.

SPLC President Bryan Fair called the DOJ charges "political."

He said the group's informants had "risked their lives" to infiltrate extremist groups – right before prosecutors alleged those same informants helped organize the most infamous white supremacist rally in recent American history.

Biden's DOJ buried that answer for years.

Now Jordan has a deadline, Blanche has more indictments in the pipeline, and a Biden-appointed judge with SPLC fingerprints all over her resume is about to answer some very uncomfortable questions.

The fingers are pointing back.
