Democrats are ramping up their attacks on the Supreme Court ahead of the 2024 Election.
They hoped that they were going to be able to intimidate the Justices.
And Chief Justice John Roberts shut down this Democrat scheme to destroy the Supreme Court.
Democrats launch a desperate attack against Samuel Alito
Democrats trained their fire on Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito with a hoax fabricated out of thin air by the media.
The New York Times ran a pair of hit pieces against Alito that claimed the flags flying outside of his homes were connected to allegedly dangerous supporters of former President Donald Trump involved in January 6.
An upside-down American flag flew outside of Alito’s home at one point.
The Times claimed without evidence that flying Old Glory upside down was connected to Trump supporters who protested on January 6.
Flying the American flag upside down is considered a sign of distress.
Alito’s wife began doing it after she was verbally berated in a nasty confrontation with a Democrat neighbor after January 6.
The left-wing paper sat on this story for years because it was a total nonstory involving a dispute between neighbors.
But when they needed to manufacture a false narrative against Alito, it was suddenly brought out of storage.
There’s no evidence that flying an American flag upside down had anything to do with January 6 or that Alito’s wife flew it for that reason.
The Times ran another hit piece falsely claiming that an obscure Revolution War era “Appeal to Heaven” flag that flew outside Alito’s vacation home in New Jersey was connected to violent Trump supporters on January 6.
Almost no one had heard of that flag outside of libertarian history buffs until the paper tried to claim without evidence that it was a symbol of January 6.
That hoax collapsed when it was discovered that San Francisco City Hall had an Appeal to Heaven flag flying outside of it.
Senate Democrats used this hoax to demand that Alito recuse himself from Trump’s Presidential immunity case and any case involving January 6.
John Roberts and Alito tell Democrats to get lost
Senate Judiciary Chairman Dick Durbin (D-IL) and U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) sent a letter to Alito demanding that he recuse himself and to Chief Justice John Roberts asking for a meeting about fake ethics issues surrounding the Supreme Court.
Alito rejected their scheme to recuse himself, noting that his wife is a private citizen with First Amendment rights.
“A reasonable person who is not motivated by political or ideological considerations or a desire to affect the outcome of Supreme Court cases would conclude that this event does not meet the applicable standard for recusal,” Alito said. “I am therefore duty-bound to reject your recusal request.”
Roberts noted the partisan nature of the Democrat Senators’ request.
“I must respectfully decline your request for a meeting,” Roberts said. “Separation of powers concerns and the importance of preserving judicial independence counsel against such appearances.”
“Moreover, the format proposed — a meeting with leaders of only one party who have expressed an interest in matters currently pending before the Court — simply underscores that participating in such a meeting would be inadvisable,” Roberts added.
Democrats are hell-bent on using any angle they can find to try and break the Republican-appointed majority on the Supreme Court.
