Taco Bell isn’t afraid to push the envelope of what’s possible with fast food.
Now they’re going where no one thought was possible.
And Taco Bell and Doritos are teaming up again to make this mind-blowing new creation.
Taco Bell and Doritos first collaborated in 2012 when the Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco was released.
It instantly became a sensation for bringing the legendary flavor of Doritos to a taco shell.
Later the partnership added the Cool Ranch and Fiery Doritos Locos Tacos to the Taco Bell menu.
But the crossover didn’t end there.
PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division released the Doritos Locos Tacos Tortilla Chip, which was billed as a merging of two fan favorites, “Doritos chips and the Taco Bell Crunchy Taco.”
Doritos launching Baja Blast-inspired chips
Now Doritos and Taco Bell are collaborating once again to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Mountain Dew Baja Blast.
Doritos is launching its new Baja Fiery Mango chips inspired by the legendary flavor of Mountain Dew that was created for Taco Bell.
“This year marks the 20th Bajaversary, and Doritos is officially joining the year-long celebration,” a Doritos spokesperson told Food & Wine. “Spice-packed and tangy, this limited-time flavor is another way the brand is showcasing its dedication to bringing unexpected flavor experiences to loyal Doritos fans.”
Doritos didn’t just want to put the signature tropical lime flavor of Baja Blast in chip form.
“The team was particularly drawn to the mango habanero flavor combination, as it’s a proliferating flavor on menus and felt truer to Doritos brand and the flavor experiences Doritos consumers are seeking,” the Doritos spokesperson added.
Sadly, for Taco Bell fans, these Baja Blast chips will only be available at retailers.
Mountain Baja Blast coming to retailers for a limited time
Since its launch in 2004, the Mountain Dew Baja Blast has been exclusively available at Taco Bell locations.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved tropical lime soda dubbed the BAJAVERSARY, Mountain Dew Baja Blast and Mountain Dew Baja Blast Zero Sugar are being sold at retailers nationwide for the rest of the year.
“MTN DEW BAJA BLAST has cemented its place as a fan-favorite flavor in pop culture and as a staple in countless Taco Bell orders, so we knew we had to celebrate its 20th anniversary in a big way,” MTN DEW Vice President of Marketing JP Bittencourt said.
For fans of the Mountain Dew Baja Blast, 2024 is shaping up to be a banner year.
