It’s a new Presidential race now that Kamala Harris replaced Joe Biden.
The election got turned upside down.
And James Carville made a prediction that stunned Donald Trump to his core.
James Carville predicts Kamala Harris can win by as much as five points
The polls did a complete 180 since Joe Biden exited the race.
Trump held a significant lead and looked like he was cruising toward a landslide win where even deep blue states like Minnesota and New Jersey were in play.
But now that Harris is in the race and after an unprecedented media propaganda campaign that resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in free advertising, Kamala Harris surged into the lead.
James Carville acknowledged the new status quo in an appearance on MSNBC’s The Beat.
“We’re looking at a different world today than we did 24 days ago. That’s pretty clear. They’re still trying to find their sea legs out there,” Carville told host Ari Melber.
Carville said Republicans were still struggling to latch on to a message to define Harris after several Members of Congress bombed with their attacks on her for being a DEI hire.
“When you get down to the fact that the Speaker of the House, who’s from Benton, Louisiana, has to tell the other House Republicans to calm the racial stuff down, you know there’s trouble out there,” Carville added.
Carville said to Melber that he hates getting into the prediction business, but he thought there was a better chance Kamala would win the popular vote by five points than Trump would win it all.
“I hate to make predictions but I will say this right now, there’s a better chance that Harris wins by five than Trump wins by one and a half,” Carville added.
Carville’s caveat
Carville tried to pull back on some of what former Obama chief strategist David Axelrod called the “irrational exuberance” behind the Kamala Harris campaign.
“So that’s not, that comes at a caveat. I’m not saying she’s going to win by five or he’s going to win by one and a half but that I think that’s the range we’re in right now,” Carville continued.
“I detest to make election predictions. I think there is still a tough, hard part, but I could see him winning by a little bit but if somebody’s going to win this by more than a little bit, it will be the Democrats. I’m just saying. I’m not predicting,” Carville concluded.
