Paul Ryan goes on Fox News to trash Donald Trump
Former President Donald Trump was a staple on Fox News during his first term in office.
But the relationship between him and the cable news network has frayed at points since he left office.
Fox Chairmen Rupert Murdoch reportedly wanted the Republican Party to go in a different direction than Trump for the 2024 Election and had a “soft ban” on him from appearing on air.
Donald Trump Jr. revealed he was blacklisted from Fox News after being regular on the network for a year.
Trump didn’t appear on the network for an interview until nearly five months after he launched his latest Presidential campaign in November 2022.
The relationship between Trump and Fox News appeared to have thawed after he wrapped up the Republican Presidential nomination.
But RINO Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) appeared on the Fox News show Your World with Neil Cavuto where he called Trump “unfit to hold office.”
Ryan joined the board of Fox Corp. – Fox News’ parent company in 2019 – shortly after leaving Congress.
“If you put yourself above the Constitution, as he has done, I think that makes you unfit for office,” Ryan said.
Host Neil Cavuto asked him if that was in reference to January 6.
“That’s a part of it,” Ryan said. “I think it really is just character at the end of the day, and the fact that if you’re willing to put yourself above the Constitution ― an oath you swear when you take federal office, whether as President or a Member of Congress, you swear an oath to the Constitution ― and you’re willing to suborn it to yourself, I think that makes you unfit for office.”
Donald Trump tells Fox News to dump Paul Ryan
Trump fired back at Fox News for having Ryan come on the network and trash him on his Truth Social platform.
“Nobody can ever trust Fox News, and I am one of them, with the weak and ineffective RINO, Paul Ryan, on its Board of Directors,” Trump wrote. “He’s a total lightweight, a failed and pathetic Speaker of the House, and a very disloyal person. Romney was bad, but Paul Ryan made him look worse. As a team, they never had a chance. Rupert and Lachlan, get that dog off your Board – You don’t need him. ALL YOU NEED IS TRUMP. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Ryan said in May that he would write in a candidate for President this year rather than vote for Trump.
Trump said at the time that Fox News should fire the former Speaker after that.
“Rupert Murdoch should fire pathetic RINO Paul Ryan from the Board of Fox. Ryan is a loser, always has been, and always will be,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “He was the WEAKEST & MOST INCOMPETENT Speaker of the House in its History. Fox will sink to the absolute bottom of the pack if Paul Ryan has anything to do with it!”
Clearly, things haven’t been completely smoothed over between Trump and Fox News after the Republican Primary.
