Brittany Mahomes caused a massive amount of media attention for supporting Donald Trump.

But Brittany Mahomes publicly supporting Trump may come back to haunt her.

And now Brittany Mahomes just had this meeting about a huge career change.

Brittany and Patrick Mahomes are part of an ownership group looking to bring a WNBA team to Kansas City

Thanks to Caitlin Clark, the WNBA is suddenly a hot property.

The league inked a new media rights deal that saw TV revenue more than triple from $60 million a year to $200 million per season in rights fees.

Attendance was up 48 percent from the 2023-2204 season.

The league is also hoping to cash in by expanding to 16 teams in 2028, which opens the door to massive expansion fees.

Cities bidding on teams are reportedly preparing offers in the $200 million dollar range to win the right to host WNBA teams.

One of the cities involved is Kansas City and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported an ownership group that includes Brittany and Patrick Mahomes met with WNBA executives about landing an expansion team.

“As WNBA expansion continues, ownership of the NWSL’s KC Current — which includes Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany — has met with the WNBA and is in contention to bring the league’s next franchise to Kansas City. Mahomes also co-owns the KC Royals and Sporting KC,” Schefter reported.

But Brittany’s public support for Donald Trump could cause the league to turn a cold shoulder on the ownership group’s offer.

Mahomes explains why he wants to help bring the WNBA to Kansas City

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Patrick Mahomes said the growth potential of the WNBA made bringing a franchise to Kansas City a no-brainer.

“Obviously, we want to get basketball to Kansas City in general, and the WNBA and the success that they’ve had this last season, these last few seasons, it’s kind of a no-brainer to try to get a WNBA team in Kansas City, to this fan base,” Mahomes began.

Mahomes said Kansas City possessed a passionate and large enough fan base to support multiple teams, so there was no worry about fans not turning out to buy tickets.

“You see it if you talk about University of Kansas basketball, the Chiefs, or whatever it is, the city of Kansas City is going to come out and, they’re going to fill the stadium. It was cool that we were able to get this women’s soccer team here in the Current, and they’re going to the playoffs now, and you see the support that they have, so let’s try to get a WNBA team in here as well and that same type of ownership group, they’ve done the Current the right way, and I want to continue to work with them to get take that next step and get a WNBA team here.”

Mahomes also said he wanted to bring the WNBA to Kansas City because the community has been so good to him since the Chiefs drafted him in the first round back in 2017.

“Just because Kansas City is such a great place for me,” Mahomes added.

“It’s a place that I call home, it’s a place that I built a house at and that I’ll be for a long, long time. I think being involved in the community as much as possible, and I love sports, I know how much the city loves sports, so let’s bring as many sports in here and showcase how great Kansas City is, not only as a city, but the people that are in the city as well,” Mahomes concluded.
