Joe Biden’s weak leadership in the White House is coming to an end.
But he still has more damage to do on his way out the door.
And Joe Biden left Chinese leaders dumbfounded when he made this bad move.
Missile defense program against China scaled back over environmental concerns
President Joe Biden’s four years in office was the weakest American leadership abroad since former President Jimmy Carter.
Decisions about national security were based on left-wing political calculations instead of defense reasons.
The threat from China has continued to grow during the Biden-Harris administration as the communist nation’s actions become increasingly aggressive.
Pentagon officials began to take basic precautions to prepare the Pacific island of Guam – the westernmost territory of the United States – against a possible attack from China.
Guam is home to a Naval base, Anderson Air Force Base, a Marine Corps base, and other military installations.
The island is about 1,800 miles from the coast of China and is a strategic hub for the military’s operations in the Pacific.
Guam is currently defended by Patriot Missiles and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) from ballistic missile attacks.
A Defense Intelligence Agency report from October claimed that China was increasing its number of DF-26 intermediate-range missiles which the Chinese call the “Guam killer” because of the ability to strike the Pacific island.
The Department of Defense Missile Defense Agency was going to install a new missile defense system on the island that would generate “360 degree” protection from attacks called the Enhanced Integrated Air and Missile Defense (EIAMD) system.
Missile Defense Agency spokesman Fred Hair said the plan was to install the new missile defense system on 35 sites.
But that number was revised down to 21 sites because of environmental concerns.
“However, after further evaluation of the sites related to environmental, access issues (i.e., non-DoD site), or operational constraints, the number of candidate sites was further narrowed to a total of 16 proposed sites,” Hair said.
Environmentalism drives national security concerns for the Biden-Harris administration.
The nation’s security is taking a backseat to left-wing political priorities.
Biden officials stress the strategic importance of Guam
Acting Under Secretary of the Navy Tom Mancinelli stressed the importance of Guam to the military’s strategic operations in the Pacific during a visit to the island in October.
“Guam is part of the U.S. homeland. It is physically closer to Beijing than Hawaii,” Mancinelli said. “If deterrence fails, we will fight from Guam, and we will fight for Guam.”
The Biden-Harris administration is willing to fight a war over Guam but will let environmentalism guide decisions about installing a new missile defense system.
An environmental impact statement for the new missile defense system pointed to potential issues with wastewater and drainage if the system was installed.
This is the latest example of a left-wing political agenda guiding national security under the Biden-Harris administration.
An executive order by Biden in 2021 injected woke goals like diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into every area of the federal government including the military.
That resulted in soldiers receiving training on the use of personal pronouns and having to sit through seminars on Critical Race Theory.
Left-wing politics drives every decision made under Joe Biden.
