But Will Smith's tour violinist just dropped a bombshell lawsuit that has Hollywood scrambling.
Violinist accuses Will Smith of grooming and sexual harassment
Professional violinist Brian King Joseph filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court on December 30 against Will Smith and his company Treyball Studios Management.
Joseph alleges Smith was "deliberately grooming and priming Mr. Joseph for further sexual exploitation" during the rapper's 2025 tour.
The 33-year-old musician, who competed on America's Got Talent in 2018, claims Smith hired him in November 2024 for a show in San Diego before inviting him to join the "Based on a True Story: 2025 Tour."
According to the lawsuit, Smith allegedly told Joseph, "You and I have such a special connection that I don't have with anyone else."
Joseph claims Smith offered him opportunities to play on tracks for the rapper's upcoming album.
The violinist alleges he joined the tour's first leg in Las Vegas in March 2025, where management booked him a hotel room.
That's when things allegedly took a disturbing turn.
Joseph claims his room key went missing for several hours while left in a bag being transported by tour management.
When he returned to his room after rehearsal, Joseph discovered someone had entered without his knowledge or permission.

Among the items left behind were wipes, a beer bottle, a red backpack, HIV medication with another person's name, an earring, hospital discharge paperwork, and a handwritten note.
The note read, "Brian, I'll be back no later [sic] 5:30, just us (drawn heart), Stone F."¹
Joseph immediately contacted hotel security, tour representatives, and the non-emergency police line to report the incident.
He requested a room change and documented everything with photographs.
Management allegedly blamed victim before firing him
Rather than investigating the hotel intrusion, Joseph claims Smith's management turned on him.
Days after reporting the incident, a representative for Smith allegedly accused Joseph of fabricating the entire story.
The lawsuit quotes tour manager Tim Miller as saying, "I don't know, you tell me, because everyone is telling me that what happened to you is a lie, nothing happened, and you made the whole thing up. So, tell me, why did you lie and make this up?"²
Joseph was fired and told the tour was "moving in a different direction."
The lawsuit reveals Smith's team hired another violinist to assume the same position Joseph occupied.
Joseph compiled a detailed timeline at Miller's request to explain what happened.
The lawsuit argues the firing was retaliation for reporting the incident.
Smith's attorney Allen B. Grodsky denied the allegations in a statement.
"Mr. Joseph's allegations concerning my client are false, baseless, and reckless," Grodsky said. "They are categorically denied, and we will use all legal means available to address these claims and to ensure that the truth is brought to light."³
Joseph is seeking damages determined by a jury for sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliation.
The lawsuit claims Joseph suffered "severe emotional distress, economic loss, reputational harm" and developed PTSD.⁴
Troubling pattern emerges around Will Smith
This lawsuit comes as Smith faces mounting scrutiny over his conduct.
The Oscar-winning actor received a 10-year ban from Academy events after slapping Chris Rock on stage at the 2022 Academy Awards.
Smith walked up and struck Rock across the face after the comedian made a joke about Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head.
Rock was presenting an award when Smith assaulted him in front of millions of viewers watching the live broadcast.
The violent outburst shocked Hollywood and destroyed Smith's carefully cultivated image as a wholesome family entertainer.
Smith and Jada have faced years of speculation about their unconventional marriage.
The couple admitted having an "open marriage" and Jada revealed in 2023 that they've been separated since 2016 despite remaining legally married.
She disclosed an "entanglement" with singer August Alsina during their separation.
Smith admitted in 2021 that "marriage for us can't be a prison" and both have engaged in relationships with other people.⁵
The arrangement raised eyebrows throughout Hollywood as the couple maintained a united public front while living separate lives.
Joseph's lawsuit paints a troubling picture of Smith allegedly using his power to exploit a younger musician.
The complaint states, "The facts strongly suggest that Defendant Willard Carroll Smith II was deliberately grooming and priming Mr. Joseph for further sexual exploitation. The sequence of events, Smith's prior statements to Plaintiff, and the circumstances of the hotel intrusion all point to a pattern of predatory behavior."⁶
Smith's career faces an uncertain future as he attempts to rehabilitate his image following the Chris Rock incident.
This lawsuit threatens to derail whatever comeback plans the fallen star had in the works.
