Joe Biden’s poll numbers continue to drop.
The talking points from his administration and the corporate-controlled press are not working.
Now White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had the most insane defense ever for Biden’s sagging economy.
Joe Biden’s approval ratings are dismal, particularly on the economy.
Americans do not trust him to solve their economic woes, and they are not optimistic about the future of the economy.
Inflation continues to hit 40-year highs, and the number is even worse if measured by the old Consumer Price Index.
The pain of inflation is mostly being felt in gas prices, and White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had an infuriating response to the gas price increases.
Jean-Pierre was asked, “Given the fact that [gas prices] keep hitting new highs, are there new initiatives, new policy proposals that your team is working through right now that could possibly have an effect or that you could roll out in the weeks ahead if prices continue where they’ve been?”
Her response was jaw-dropping – she simply pointed out that other countries have worse gas price increases.
Jean-Pierre noted, “Look, you know, if you look at what happened when Putin started amassing troops on the border with Russia, the price of gas has increased by $1.51. And I also want to add — because this is really important so that people understand and flag that similar issues are happening around the world. In the EU, gas is $8.15 per gallon. It has increased by $1.74. In Germany, gas is $8.88 per gallon. It has increased $2.16. In Canada, gas is $6.23 per gallon. It has increased $1.93. And all of this has happened since December of 2021.”
In other words, there is no real plan, but hey, things could be worse!
The administration is also circling back to the “Putin’s price hike” talking point.
But even Democrats are calling foul on that messaging.
Former top Barack Obama advisor David Axelrod explained, “Why not . . . just be blunt with people? […] But then now they’ve over-corrected and so for a few days he was saying, you know, everything is ‘Putin’s price hikes. Inflation is Putin’s fault.’ People don’t believe that, either. They know that we had inflation before this. They know that gas prices were high before this. So they haven’t dialed this in quite right yet. You can’t blame everything in the economy on Putin.”
As Axelrod pointed out, gas didn’t magically get expensive starting in December 2021.
The price of gas had been going up since Biden came into office.
Biden and the Democrats have backed themselves into a corner.
Their policies ran up against reality, and reality won.
