Florida Governor Ron DeSantis keeps moving closer to a Presidential campaign.

DeSantis made his biggest announcement yet.

And what Ron DeSantis just told Tucker Carlson caused this massive meltdown.

Tucker Carlson is one of the leading voices in the media opposing Joe Biden’s reckless war with Russia over Ukraine.

Carlson asked six leading or potential Republicans running for President to answer a series of questions about their policy towards Ukraine.

Polls show Ron DeSantis – along with Donald Trump – are the leading contenders for the nomination.

But up until this point DeSantis said little about the war in Ukraine or his overall vision for American foreign policy.

That all changed when DeSantis responded to Tucker Carlson.

In his answers to Carlson’s questions, Governor DeSantis explained that Ukraine was not a vital strategic interest from the United States and that entangling the nation in a “territorial dispute” distracted from real problems like checking the rise of Communist China.

“While the U.S. has many vital national interests – securing our borders, addressing the crisis of readiness within our military, achieving energy security and independence, and checking the economic, cultural, and military power of the Chinese Communist Party – becoming further entangled in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia is not one of them. The Biden administration’s virtual ‘blank check’ funding of this conflict for ‘as long as it takes,’ without any defined objectives or accountability, distracts from our country’s most pressing challenges,” DeSantis stated.

DeSantis also opposed providing the Ukrainians with long-range missiles or F-16 fighter jets on the grounds that it could escalate the war past the point of no return as those weapons would allow the Ukrainians to strike inside Russian borders with American equipment.

“Without question, peace should be the objective. The U.S. should not provide assistance that could require the deployment of American troops or enable Ukraine to engage in offensive operations beyond its borders. F-16s and long-range missiles should therefore be off the table. These moves would risk explicitly drawing the United States into the conflict and drawing us closer to a hot war between the world’s two largest nuclear powers. That risk is unacceptable,” DeSantis added.

DeSantis also slammed Biden for prioritizing the safety and security of the Ukrainian people while neglecting an open border that allowed drugs to flow into the country killing tens of thousands of Americans.

“We cannot prioritize intervention in an escalating foreign war over the defense of our own homeland, especially as tens of thousands of Americans are dying every year from narcotics smuggled across our open border and our weapons arsenals critical for our own security are rapidly being depleted,” DeSantis continued.

Carlson read DeSantis’ as well as the rest of the responses to his questions on his Monday night broadcast.

DeSantis’ position on Ukraine caused GOP warmongers to have a meltdown on social media.

What really enrages the warmongers is not just that Ron DeSantis opposed them in Ukraine, but the fact that every poll shows Trump and DeSantis winning north of 80 percent of the combined primary vote.

Both Trump and DeSantis are running on an anti-war platform that shows just how far the center of gravity shifted in the GOP away from the George W. Bush/Mitt Romney/John McCain wing of the party.
