CNN has spent years lecturing America about journalistic integrity.
Jake Tapper built his entire brand on being the serious, principled voice of the resistance.
And Tucker Carlson just told Megyn Kelly something about Tapper's past that neither of them could keep a straight face about.
Tucker Knew Tapper Before the Cameras
The conversation started when Rep. Mike Lawler accused Tucker of promoting "anti-Semitic hate speech."
Tucker wasn't having it.
He pointed out the absurdity of Jake Tapper lending credibility to that kind of attack.
"It's just amazing to see Jake Tapper abetting something like this," Tucker said on The Megyn Kelly Show.
And then Tucker dropped the detail nobody saw coming.
"I remember when he was a lobbyist for Hooters, thinking about becoming a journalist," Tucker said. "He was literally a lobbyist for Hooters. I knew him well."

Megyn Kelly's response was exactly what you'd expect.
"What?!"
Tucker didn't flinch.
"Oh yeah, oh absolutely,” he said. “He was traveling around America with the Hooters girls, promoting Hooters!"
"I mean, I could get behind it," Megyn laughed.
Tapper Admitted It Himself
Here's the part that makes it even better.
Jake Tapper already confirmed the whole thing — on his own podcast.
In 2025, Tapper addressed his Hooters past on the Dedicated podcast, explaining he worked for a public relations firm called Power Tate in his mid-20s while figuring out his career path.
"It was a bipartisan firm," Tapper said. "And we worked for whatever clients we got."
Hooters happened to be one of them — the chain was fighting a federal lawsuit at the time over its refusal to hire men as servers.
Tapper was 24 or 25 years old and, in his own words, "working for a PR firm to pay the rent while I figured out what I wanted to do."

There's nothing wrong with that.
But here's what's rich.
The Man Who Lectures You Spent His 20s Defending Hooters
Jake Tapper spent his career at CNN positioning himself as the moral authority on everything.
He covered Trump with barely concealed contempt for nearly a decade.
He amplified accusations against Tucker Carlson while sitting in a network that cheerleaded every left-wing cause imaginable.
And before any of that — before the tailored suits and the stern anchor voice — he was crisscrossing America as a PR man for a restaurant chain famous for its waitresses in orange shorts.
That's not an insult.
That's just the biography.
What makes it matter is the gap between the persona and the history.
CNN anchors love to present themselves as the adults in the room — serious journalists holding power accountable, protecting democracy, upholding standards.
Tapper is the gold standard of that pose.
And Tucker Carlson — who actually knew the man back then — just reminded everybody what was happening before the pose was invented.
Think about what Tucker was actually saying.
Rep. Lawler accused Tucker of promoting anti-Semitic hate speech — and Jake Tapper was right there amplifying it, playing the role of the serious, credentialed journalist lending weight to the charge.
That's the Jake Tapper who spent his mid-20s traveling America with Hooters girls on a PR tour.
The man doesn't have a credibility problem.
He has a credibility fiction — one that CNN built for him over 20 years and that Tucker just dismantled in about ten seconds on Megyn Kelly's show.
