Republicans who oppose Donald Trump generally have a short political career.
The few open enemies of him are at the end of their careers now.
And Trump’s top GOP enemy just got the worst news of her career.
Rep. Liz Cheney (WY) has been the most vocal critic of Donald Trump over the past few months.
That shouldn’t be surprising with her father being disgraced former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Rep. Cheney has supported impeaching, prosecuting, and expelling Trump from office, very publicly making those views known.
And now all of her anti-Trump hatred has caught up with her.
Just this week she was removed from House Republican Leadership in a vote held by other members of leadership.
She knew this was coming – for weeks it has been reported that she would be voted out this month.
Top-ranking Republicans like Rep. Kevin McCarthy made clear he would vote to remove her.
And the vast majority of people who publicly backed her were from the Left, including Nancy Pelosi, and for some reason accused murderer O.J. Simpson.
After her ouster, Cheney spoke out declaring she had no regrets for her actions in recent months.
“I am absolutely committed as I said last night, as I said just now to my colleagues, that we must go forward based on truth. We cannot both embrace the big lie and embrace the Constitution,” Cheney said following her ouster.
“The nation needs a strong Republican Party, the nation needs a party that is based upon fundamental principles of conservatism, and I am committed and dedicated to ensuring that that’s how this party goes forward, and I plan to lead the fight to do that,” she added.
She also doubled down on her crusade to work with Democrats to ensure that Trump never holds office again.
“We have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language. We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution. And I think it’s very important that we make sure whomever we elect, is somebody who will be faithful to the Constitution,” she said.
Donald Trump responded to her ouster by calling Cheney a “bitter, horrible human being,” adding that “She has no personality or anything good having to do with politics or our Country. She is a talking point for Democrats, whether that means the Border, the gas lines, inflation, or destroying our economy.”
Trump has pledged to oppose her in her 2022 primary election, which is shaping up to have a lot of challengers.
