Ron DeSantis has been catching flak on a daily basis.

And some of the attacks have come from the Right.

Now, Donald Trump unleashed one crazy accusation against DeSantis.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been catching slings and arrows, which means he’s doing a good job.

He’s doing so well that Donald Trump is truly concerned about DeSantis challenging him in the 2024 Republican primary.

Trump announced almost immediately after the Midterms in an attempt to crowd out the field, but the gambit has not worked so far.

Former UN Ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley soon plans to announce her candidacy, but Trump is particularly worried about DeSantis, who is polling ahead of him in some surveys.

Trump recently reposted a smear campaign against DeSantis that was originally dredged up by a Democrat SuperPAC during his re-election bid against Charlie Crist.

The “dirt” was a picture of DeSantis in his early 20s when he taught at a high school in Georgia.

DeSantis was pictured at a house party after graduation with a beer in his hand alongside some of the recent graduates.

The caption on the photo read, “Here is Ron DeSanctimonious grooming high school girls with alcohol as a teacher.”

Trump commented on the old picture, “That’s not Ron, is it? He would never do such a thing!”

The smear didn’t work during DeSantis’s gubernatorial bid – he defeated Crist by 19 points – and it’s not going to work now.

Even The New York Times diffused the story, and the paper had been itching to find a knockout blow against him.

The Times reported that “two former students, both women, remembered him attending at least two parties where alcohol was served, but they said that the parties took place after graduation and that they were not bothered by his presence at the time, although they question it now. ‘It was his first job out of Yale, he was cute. We didn’t really think too much about it,’ one of the former students said.”

This isn’t Trump’s first salvo against DeSantis.

He was furious when the Governor was noncommittal about sitting out the 2024 race.

That’s when he gave DeSantis the lackluster nickname “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

Soon after, Trump told reporters, “I don’t know if [DeSantis] is running. I think if he runs, he could hurt himself very badly . . . I really believe he could hurt himself badly. I think he would be making a mistake. I think the base would not like it — I don’t think it would be good for the party . . . If he runs, he runs . . . I would tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering — I know more about him than anybody — other than, perhaps, his wife.”

Trump is clearly not going to have a cakewalk to the nomination like he enjoyed in 2020.

And he’s definitely showing he’s concerned about Ron DeSantis by striking early and often with low blows like this one.
