Toronto Police Fined a Truck for Playing a Video of Serena Williams While Sophie Cunningham Drained Three Threes

Toronto police fined a billboard truck $1,230 for playing a Serena Williams video outside a WNBA game Tuesday night.

Inside that same arena, Sophie Cunningham was getting booed every time she touched the ball for saying she wants to protect girls in locker rooms.

Sophie Cunningham responded by going 3-for-3 from three-point range – and you need to know everything that happened in Toronto.

The Boos That Fueled the Fever

Cunningham checked into Indiana's game against the Toronto Tempo and the crowd lost its mind.

Not because she plays dirty.

Not because she talked trash.

Because she said she wants to protect girls in locker rooms from competing against biological men.

That is the full quote – every word of it – and a sold-out Canadian arena booed her every single time she touched the ball for saying it.

She responded by going 3-for-3 from three-point range and helping the Fever to a 101-95 win.

Then she walked to the postgame podium and praised the crowd that had just tried to humiliate her.

"I want to shout out the Tempo crowd and the city," Cunningham said. "The crowd was absolutely amazing. I think that's what sports is all about. You're going to get boos and you're going to get cheers."

Class. Composure. Three buckets.

The Billboard That Scared Toronto Police

While Cunningham was draining shots inside the arena, a billboard truck was parked outside showing a public service announcement featuring Serena Williams and Martina Navratilova.

The video made one claim: men are stronger than women, and letting them compete in women's sports is not fair.

Toronto police swarmed the truck like it was a crime scene.

They ordered the driver to turn the video off, told him the display was illegal, and issued two $615 tickets totaling $1,230.

Rebel News, which had arranged the truck through Canadian Women's Sex-Based Rights, confirmed there is no law requiring a permit to display video on a billboard truck – and never has in all the years the truck has operated.

"That's not the law," Rebel News said. "That's censorship."

They have hired a lawyer and are fighting the tickets in court.

So let's be precise about what happened Tuesday night in Toronto: a female athlete drained three threes while cops outside fined a truck for playing a Serena Williams clip.

Why the Boos Always Backfire

Martina Navratilova went through this for years.

The greatest female tennis player of her era said the same thing Cunningham said – that biological males competing against women is not fair – and the left called her a bigot, removed her from advisory boards, and turned her into a pariah despite her spending 40 years as an openly gay icon of the sport.

She did not flinch.

Neither did Sophie Cunningham.

Here is what the left consistently gets wrong about this playbook: the louder they boo, the larger the audience grows.

A WNBA bench player from Indiana is now the most talked-about athlete in North America because the left decided that saying "protect girls in locker rooms" was a statement worth punishing.

Fans paid $1,000 per ticket in Atlanta last week just to see Cunningham play.

Rallies form outside every road arena the Fever visits – the fourth one is scheduled for August 22 in New York.

And in Toronto, while the home crowd waved trans pride flags and police ticketed a truck for showing Serena Williams, Cunningham walked off the court with the W, turned to the cameras, and thanked everyone for showing up.

The movement does not need a megaphone when it has a jump shot.
