Now one of the most powerful men in the music industry just dragged an NBC late-night host down with him, and the story buried in those files is darker than anything the entertainment press wanted you to know.

Tommy Mottola ran Sony Music for 15 years, launching Mariah Carey and Celine Dion and making himself one of the most powerful forces in American entertainment.
He was also, according to the files, visiting Jeffrey Epstein's Manhattan mansion between 2006 and 2008 – after Epstein had already been convicted of soliciting sex from a minor in Florida.
That detail matters.
Epstein's 2008 conviction was front-page news.
Every person in America with a television or a newspaper knew exactly who Jeffrey Epstein was and what he had done.
Mottola kept showing up anyway.
His name appears in approximately 600 documents released by the DOJ, with correspondence running from 2010 all the way to 2019 – the year federal agents arrested Epstein on sex trafficking charges.
The conversations covered everything from travel arrangements and helicopter rentals to hiring a private investigator.
Then in 2017, as #MeToo began burning down Hollywood, Epstein told Mottola he was "safe" from scrutiny.
Mottola's response: "Should I shut up and lay low?"
Epstein answered, "sure."

Jimmy Fallon and Tommy Mottola were planning to launch a branded pasta sauce line – the kind of celebrity food venture that generates feel-good segments and Instagram posts at Rao's in East Harlem, where the two had been spotted together for years.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the venture is dead.
A source connected to the project said it plainly: nobody wants to be near anyone in the Epstein files.
Fallon hasn't made a public statement.
His silence says enough.
Casey Wasserman Sells Agency as Chappell Roan Leads Client Exodus
The Wasserman collapse is happening simultaneously and it's worse.
Casey Wasserman – chairman of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics – was exchanging flirtatious emails with Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003 while also riding Epstein's private jet to Africa alongside Bill Clinton.
In one exchange, Wasserman asked Maxwell what he'd have to do to see her in a "tight leather outfit."
He was married at the time.
Grammy winner Chappell Roan dumped his agency publicly on Instagram.
Orville Peck followed.
Weyes Blood followed.
Wasserman announced he's selling the entire company.
These aren't distant acquaintances caught in a mailing list.
These are men who rode the plane, visited the mansion, corresponded for years, and kept going back after the 2008 conviction made Epstein's crimes public record.

Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed in a February 14 letter to Congress that all Epstein files have been released – more than 300 high-profile names across three million pages of emails, contacts, and records the FBI had been sitting on.
The Biden DOJ sat on this for years.
Two administrations of prosecutors looked at this material, charged two people, and let Hollywood sleep.
Trump's Justice Department handed it to the American people and let them draw their own conclusions.
What they're drawing is this: the most powerful men in entertainment weren't just adjacent to Jeffrey Epstein.
They kept coming back after they knew exactly what he was.
The pasta sauce was always going to be the least of it.
