Cancel culture is out of control in America.
It’s moved far beyond silencing and censoring anyone who disagrees with the woke mob.
But Tom Hanks just dropped a four-word truth bomb about cancel culture that sent leftists into a fit of rage.
Tom Hanks is a Hollywood actor who starred in numerous hit movies over the years, including Forrest Gump, You’ve Got Mail, Castaway, and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
Over the years, Hanks’ films have grossed more than $4.9 billion in North America and more than $9.96 billion worldwide, making him the fourth-highest grossing actor in North America.
Hanks has won several awards for his performances, including Best Actor at the 1993 and 1994 Academy Awards.
Aside from producing and performing in movies and television shows, Hanks recently added “author” to his impressive resume.
Hanks is working on a novel called The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece and recently sat down with Fox News Digital for an interview.
The topic of cancel culture came up during the interview.
And Hanks joined Steven Spielberg in expressing his dislike of censoring books and movies.
Steven Spielberg recently declared his opposition to censorship.
“Nobody should ever attempt to take the chocolate out of Willy Wonka! Ever!” Spielberg said. “For me, it is sacrosanct. It’s our history, it’s our cultural heritage,” he continued. “I do not believe in censorship in that way.”
And Tom Hanks agrees.
“I’m of the opinion that we’re all grown-ups here,” Hanks said. “Let’s have faith in our own sensibilities as opposed to having somebody decide what we may or may not be offended by,” he continued, before adding “let me decide what I am offended by and what I’m not offended by.”
Hanks responded to the recent trend among the Left to edit old books so they are not “offensive” in modern times.
“Ian Fleming’s ribald James Bond books have been rewritten to remove a handful of racial references in order to fit modern day thought, according to reports published in February,” Fox News reported.
Hanks blasted the attempt by the Left to revise old books that they consider “offensive.”
“I would be against reading any book from any era that says ‘abridged due to modern sensitivities,’” Hanks said.
Most Americans have long been sick of the woke cancel culture mob.
And now actors like Tom Hanks and producers like Steven Spielberg have had enough and are speaking out against censorship.
