The biggest domestic issue facing Joe Biden’s Presidency has been the border crisis his far-left policies created.
Despite some in the media and some Democrats applying pressure, the Biden White House has merely tried to spin the issue away.
However, this Governor’s latest move may have just caused major issues for Biden’s ability to spin away their “non-crisis, border crisis.”
Over the weekend, Joe Biden finally admitted for the first time that the massive influx of illegal aliens at the southern border was because his policies had caused a crisis.
As expected, though, the Biden White House once again attempted to tell the American people that they shouldn’t trust the words that come out of Biden’s mouth, and that their official position was that there is no crisis.
That entire sequence of events perfectly illustrates the Biden administration’s playbook for dealing with the border crisis.
Since day one, the Biden administration has tried to toe such a fine line with the border crisis that they’ve essentially resorted to spinning the situation as a “non-crisis border crisis” so that they can save face without actually having to admit their failures.
But while the Biden administration has operated under the assumption that they could spin their way out of this situation, one Governor has stepped up and thrown a wrench in those plans.
Earlier this week, Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey declared a state of emergency and deployed National Guard troops to the state’s southern border to help local law enforcement deal with the border crisis.
In the announcement, the Governor said that “the State will provide up to $25 million in initial funding for the mission,” which entails up to 250 guardsmen assisting with medical care at detention centers, installing surveillance, and other services.
“The situation in our border communities is just as bad – if not worse – than the coverage we’ve been seeing,” Governor Ducey said in a statement.
The Governor also took the opportunity of his announcement to blast the Biden administration’s failure to address the crisis.
“It’s become evidently clear that Arizona needs the National Guard, and the White House is aware of that,” Ducey said. “Yet, to this day, there has been no action from this administration, and it doesn’t look like they are going to act any time soon. If this administration isn’t going to do anything, then we will.”
On top of the issues this announcement itself created for the Biden administration, Arizona’s two Democrat Senators actually made matters worse for the White House.
According to Fox News, both Democrat Senators Kirsten Sinema and Mark Kelly support Governor Ducey’s decision, and even went so far as to write a joint letter to Joe Biden in which they urged him to reimburse the state for the deployment of the National Guard.
In a separate statement, Senator Kelly said, “There is a crisis on the border and I have pushed the administration for the additional resources, staffing, transportation, and the testing necessary to provide a secure, orderly process that does not fall on Arizona communities.”
“In visiting the Yuma Sector and speaking with Border Patrol and other local leaders, it’s clear that their resources and staffing are strained,” Kelly continued. “There are important missions that the Arizona National Guard can perform at the border and the governor calling them up will provide assistance to both local law enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security.”
The fact that Governors are now having to take action on their own to fix Biden’s failures, and that Democrat Senators are supporting them in doing so, is a major issue for the Biden administration.
They have tried desperately to just make the border crisis go away, but that’s clearly not happening any time soon.
In fact, the pressure on them to admit their failures and ditch the policies that caused the crisis in the first place is mounting everyday.
Joe Biden and his administration can’t run from this issue any longer.
Their hand has been forced, and it’s time for them to stop burying their heads in the sand, and actually address the border crisis.
