America elected her to run a city.
She was already running a propaganda operation for Beijing.
Now the FBI has a signed plea agreement that proves every word of it.
The Fake News Site Hiding in Plain Sight
Eileen Wang won a seat on the Arcadia City Council in November 2022.
By February 2026, the five-member council had rotated her into the mayor's chair.
By May 2026, she was handing in her resignation and facing 10 years in federal prison.
The operation Wang ran with her then-fiancé Yaoning "Mike" Sun wasn't sophisticated.
It didn't have to be.

They created a website called U.S. News Center, dressed it up as independent journalism for Southern California's Chinese American community, and quietly fed it whatever Beijing told them to publish.
Chinese government officials would send pre-written articles through WeChat.
Wang would post them.
Then she'd send back a screenshot showing the article had racked up 15,128 views.
The official's response: "Great!"
Wang's response: "Thank you, leader."
That exchange is now in a federal plea agreement.
What Beijing Actually Wanted
This wasn't random propaganda.
In June 2021, a PRC official contacted Wang via WeChat with a pre-written essay on Xinjiang – Beijing's response to international coverage of forced Uyghur labor in cotton production.
Within minutes, Wang and Sun published it on their website as if it were original reporting.
In November 2021, Wang told a contact to post an article, writing: "This is what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wants to send."

The DOJ also confirmed Wang's co-conspirator Sun was simultaneously serving as a campaign adviser for a Southern California city council candidate – the candidate won – while illegally operating as a covert agent for China.
Sun is already in federal prison serving a four-year sentence after pleading guilty in October 2025.
Wang's plea agreement was sealed when it was filed April 1.
It went public Monday – two days before President Trump flies to Beijing for face-to-face talks with Xi Jinping.
Former prosecutor Lou Shapiro said the timing wasn't accidental.
"I think he's trying to use this as an opportunity to show them, 'We are onto you,'" Shapiro told ABC7. "'You may think you're getting something over on us, but we're not going to let that happen.'"
This Is the Playbook, Not a Fluke
FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X Monday that Wang "admitted to acting as a foreign agent from at least 2020 through 2022" and that "FBI and our federal partners continue to move aggressively to root out this kind of influence in American institutions all over the country."
That last part matters.
The FBI opens a new China-related counterintelligence case every 10 hours.

This is China's United Front Work Department running its standard playbook – target naturalized Chinese Americans with family ties in China, give them financial incentives or social pressure, and use them to push Beijing's narrative inside American institutions.
The Foundation for Defense of Democracies and the House Select Committee on the CCP have both documented what former senior CIA official Dennis Wilder described plainly: "This is a classic Ministry of State Security operation. You go after naturalized American citizens with large connections to China."
Arcadia is 42% ethnically Chinese.
A local news website targeting that community – run by an elected official – was exactly the kind of influence asset Beijing wanted embedded in Los Angeles County.
The Xinjiang cotton story Wang pushed for Beijing was designed to kill coverage of slave labor in Chinese supply chains at the exact moment American companies were under pressure to pull out of the region.
She was running interference for Chinese government policy inside the United States while sitting on a city council.
That's the operation.
And it's already running in your community somewhere.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli put it plainly: "This plea agreement is the latest success in our determination to defend the homeland against China's efforts to corrupt our institutions."
Latest – not last.
