Kristian Andersen told the world COVID definitely did not come from a lab – and privately gave it a 30% chance it did.
Rand Paul just released the Slack messages that prove it.
And what these scientists said to each other behind closed doors will make every American who got silenced furious.
The Paper That Shut Down the Debate
In March 2020, four scientists published a paper in Nature Medicine called "The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2."
Andersen, Robert Garry, Eddie Holmes, and Andrew Rambaut told the world, in plain language, that the virus had not been manipulated in a lab.
Public health officials grabbed it immediately.

Anthony Fauci cited it.
The media cited it.
Anyone who questioned it got called a conspiracy theorist, a fringe lunatic, a danger to public health.
Holmes privately put the probability of a lab origin at 20% – then revised it down to 10%.
That is still a number that destroys the paper's public claim of certainty.
Those are not the numbers of men who believed their own conclusion.
They Said It Themselves
The messages don't leave much room for interpretation.
On June 11, 2020 – three months after publication – Andersen wrote to his co-authors that he had "less confidence in that statement at this stage."
He admitted they had "no hard evidence one way or the other."
He admitted they could not rule out that "somebody actually put it in there."
This is the man whose paper Fauci used to end the conversation.
The documents also show internal alarm over the furin cleavage site – the genetic feature at the center of the lab-leak question – with Andersen telling colleagues that "some smoking(ish) guns" had emerged that made him "not comfortable."
They were worried enough that after the DARPA DEFUSE proposal leaked – a document detailing plans to insert furin cleavage sites into bat coronaviruses – the group discussed telling each other to "stay off email" and to "carefully curate" their correspondence before it hit FOIA requests.
Scientists confident in their conclusions do not discuss curating their paper trail.
Guilty people do.
Who Was Running This Operation
The Slack messages reveal something even more damaging than private doubt.
They show these scientists coordinating directly with the U.S. intelligence community and NIH leadership – at the same time they were publicly defending their conclusions.
Andersen told his co-authors he expected to "have a handler" as the intelligence community's 90-day review was underway.
Holmes repeatedly referenced a source in China he called "my spy."
Congressional investigators concluded in 2023 that Fauci "prompted" the paper – meaning the man who cited it as independent scientific consensus was the same man who asked for it to be written.
The co-authors were so embedded with NIH leadership they had a nickname for Fauci's team: the "Bethesda Boys."
This was not a scientific paper.
It was a political document.
Rand Paul said it plainly: "These are people who get large, multimillion-dollar grants from our country, and we shouldn't be giving money to people who lied to us."
He is right.
Now, Fauci himself is weeks away from a subpoenaed Senate appearance before Paul's committee.
CIA whistleblower James Erdman testified in May that Fauci directly discussed COVID's origins with intelligence officials – directly contradicting Fauci's sworn 2024 testimony that he could not recall those conversations.

The word for that is perjury.
Biden's blanket pardon may protect Fauci from prosecution – but it cannot protect him from the American people finding out exactly what he did.
Every American who got called a conspiracy theorist for asking obvious questions about a virus that killed over a million of their countrymen deserves to know that the scientists telling them to shut up were privately admitting they did not know the answer either.
Your church closed.
Your business shuttered.
Your grandkids sat home for a year.
They lied.
They got paid to lie.
And Rand Paul just proved it.
