Emboldened by Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie-breaking vote, Senate Democrats have been trying to force a woke agenda on America despite a 50-50 deadlock in the upper chamber.
Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer is hanging his hope on retaining the Senate Majority on the fact that the GOP is defending far more seats in the Midterms than the Democrats are.
But a new poll from Nevada may have the Senior Senator from New York counting his remaining days as Majority Leader.
The most recent Trafalgar Poll out of the Silver State has Republicans with a four-point advantage over Democrats in the Senate race.
The survey found former Nevada Attorney General, Republican Adam Laxalt, leading Democrat incumbent Senator Catherine Cortez Masto 44-to-40.
Masto, a former Attorney General herself, replaced long-time Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid back in 2016.
The fact that Masto supplanted the last Democrat Majority Leader before Schumer adds to the irony of Schumer’s fate hinging on the results of Masto’s race.
To succeed Reid, Masto beat out Rep. Joe Heck by just 2-points, or 27,000 votes.
Interestingly, Masto scored about 82,000 votes more than Heck in Clark County – meaning outside of the Law Vegas area, residents of the Silver State preferred the GOP Candidate.
Meanwhile, the GOP frontrunner, Laxalt made a bid for the Governor’s mansion in the tough year of 2018.
He fell just 4-points shy of defeating current NV Governor Steve Sisolak.
Along with Nevada, Republicans only have three other strong pickup opportunities in 2022 – Arizona, Georgia and New Hampshire.
A hard-hitting Red wave could also make picking up Colorado a possibility.
That means Schumer is counting on carrying Nevada to keep his control of the Senate.
Laxalt currently has two GOP primary opponents, but it the clear frontrunner and is focusing his attention on Masto.
“She supports open borders, which is leading to more human trafficking and the spread of drugs in the U.S.,” Laxalt said. “Her stand is unforgivable and dangerous. I want secure borders. She never offered any condemnation of the BLM [Black Lives Matter] riots which left [Las Vegas police officer] Shay Mikalonis paralyzed from the waist down. I will always stand by the men and women who protect us.”
Laxalt has come out passionately against President Joe Biden’s economy-crushing Build Back Better boondoggle.
And he’s said he would have voted against the Biden/Schumer infrastructure bill.
The incumbent Masto supported both pieces of costly legislation.
Both Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have endorsed Laxalt’s bid for the Senate.
