JB Pritzker never called Joe Abraham after a drunk illegal alien killed his daughter at a stoplight.
The Trump administration named a federal operation after that daughter – and swept 4,000 criminal aliens off Chicago's streets.
And Joe Abraham just joined ICE in order to make sure the next family doesn't get Pritzker's silence.
From a Stoplight in Urbana to the Top of VOICE
Katie Abraham was 20 years old.
She and her friend Chloe Polzin were stopped at a light in Urbana, Illinois, in January 2025 when Julio Cucul-Bol – a Guatemalan national living in the U.S. illegally – hit their car at 80 miles per hour.
He was drunk.
He ran.
Katie died at the scene.
Chloe died the next day.
Cucul-Bol pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI resulting in death and leaving the scene of a fatal crash and is serving 30 years.
Joe Abraham spent the months after burying his daughter on Fox News, in congressional hearings, and in op-eds – doing everything Pritzker refused to do: treating illegal alien crime as a real problem with real victims.

DHS was listening.
In September 2025, the agency launched Operation Midway Blitz – named in Katie's honor – a sweeping federal enforcement surge across Chicago and Illinois.
DHS reported homicides in Chicago dropped 16%, shootings dropped 35%, robberies dropped 41%, and carjackings dropped 48%.
More than 4,000 arrests, including pedophiles, child abusers, kidnappers, Tren de Aragua gang members, and armed robbers – exactly the violent criminal illegal aliens sanctuary politicians like Pritzker were shielding from ICE.
Now Abraham has accepted the role of Executive Director of VOICE – the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement office inside ICE – the same office that helped his own family navigate the aftermath of Katie's death.
"I am excited to accept the Executive Director role at VOICE because this is not simply a government position for me," Abraham said. "It is deeply personal and rooted in a mission I have come to understand through unimaginable loss."
Biden Shut It Down. Trump Brought It Back.
VOICE has a history that tells you everything you need to know about the difference between the two parties.
Trump created the office in 2017 – the first time any administration gave families of illegal alien crime victims a dedicated federal contact.
Biden killed it in June 2021.
He shut it down entirely and left victims with nothing.
Trump ordered it relaunched on his first day back in January 2025, with the office reopening that April.
In its first year back, VOICE received 897 calls and helped 588 victims and family members get information, case support, and services they had no way to access under Biden.
The most common crimes reported: assault at 35%, ra*e and sexual assault at 17%, homicide and manslaughter at 10%.
Those are not statistics.
Those are families exactly like the Abrahams – families Biden's DHS decided weren't worth a phone call.
White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis called Abraham "the perfect choice to lead the VOICE office."
"Since the murder of his daughter, Katie, in a drunk driving hit-and-run in sanctuary Illinois, he has been a staunch advocate for victims of illegal alien crime and a powerful critic of the Democrats' sanctuary policies," Bis said. "In his new role in the Trump administration, he will help countless families who lost a loved one to a preventable tragedy caused by open-border policies."
This Is What Sanctuary Policies Actually Cost
Pritzker has spent the past year investigating ICE agents.
Not the illegal alien who killed Katie Abraham.
ICE agents.
He's called for criminal investigations into the officers who conducted Operation Midway Blitz and refused to honor federal detainer requests.

In May, Illinois released a convicted child sex abuser from custody over ICE's explicit objection – just let him walk out.
DHS blasted Pritzker directly: "Governor Pritzker continues to refuse to do his job to protect his citizens from illegal alien crime and instead chooses to smear our law enforcement."
Joe Abraham did everything right.
His own parents immigrated legally.
He paid taxes, raised a family, followed every rule a citizen is supposed to follow.
His daughter got a death sentence at a stoplight.
He got, in his own words, "a life sentence."
And the governor of Illinois – who wore a bulletproof vest to protest ICE operations – never once picked up the phone.
Joe Abraham didn't wait for Pritzker to grow a conscience.
He joined ICE.
