The Democrats are scrambling for a narrative to drive out their base.
They settled yet again on “Orange Man Bad,” which is proving to be underwhelming.
And Ted Cruz called out the one thing Democrats are terrified about.
Democrats have put all their eggs in the January 6th hearings basket in order to scare voters to the polls.
But according to an ABC News/Ipsos poll, only 9% of Americans are following the hearings very closely, and 51% of respondents said the hearings will have no bearing on how they vote in the midterms.
In other words, the Democrats are not getting results they wanted from the January 6th hearings.
They also appear to be losing steam with a key voting bloc: Hispanic Americans.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz vocalized the fears Democrats have regarding the issue, explaining, “What happened in South Texas last week with Mayra Flores’ victory was a political earthquake of historic proportions…There is just no other way to describe it. I’ve spoken to many of my colleagues and the Democrats are privately panicking about their losses with Hispanics.”
Congresswoman Flores won a special election in a district that is 84% Hispanic and Biden won by 4 points in 2020.
In November, she will be running in a district that Biden won by double digits, but Cook Political only rates the race as a “Democratic lean,” meaning any district that Biden didn’t win by 15-20 points is in play for Republicans.
Cruz continued, “From Mexican-Americans in Texas to Colombian Americans in Florida and Puerto Ricans in New York, Hispanics of all backgrounds are abandoning the Democrat Party in droves…Not only is there nothing the Democrats can do about it, it’s going to get a lot worse for them.”
Trump saw roughly a 10-point gain among Hispanic voters from 2016 to 2020, largely because of the economy and immigration.
Democrats made the miscalculation that Hispanic Americans are wildly in favor of unfettered illegal immigration into the country.
Some border communities have flipped red after being overwhelmed by waves of migrants; border towns are not equipped to handle thousands of people suddenly showing up.
Latinos who work in the oil and gas industry are none too pleased with the “green” initiative of the Democratic Party.
They also are not enthused by the Democrats’ move to the fringes on cultural issues.
Cruz added, “The Democrats are in big trouble with Hispanics, suburban moms, and blue-collar workers who are fed-up with their failed economic policies, elitism, and woke ideology.”
Amazingly, the Democrats have not even made an attempt to moderate.
It will likely be their downfall in the midterms.
