Sunny Hostin Just Told 3 Million Viewers She Wants Trump’s Own Cabinet to Remove Him

Sunny Hostin cried on live television the morning Donald Trump won the 2024 election.

Now she's back on The View – fantasizing out loud about his cabinet staging a constitutional coup.

And Sunny Hostin has a plan to remove Trump from office – but the plan only kicks in after Republicans lose Congress.

Hostin's Theory Requires Quite a Few Things to Go Wrong

Hostin told her co-hosts she thinks Trump's own cabinet – the people he appointed, the people who work for him every day – will look at each other after a Republican midterm wipeout and decide it's time to take control.

JD Vance becomes president.

The people America elected in 2024 get removed by the people America never voted for.

She called it honest and earnest.

"My question is when do we really start, in earnest — and I mean this honestly — considering the 25th Amendment," Hostin said. “I think maybe, and for those of you that don’t know, that means you can remove the president if you think that he is suffering some sort of mental defect.”

"I think when the Republicans lose the House, and they lose the Senate, they're going to want to have some control over this person, this person that is in the office, and JD Vance would then be that replacement and I wonder if the Cabinet then looks at each other and says, 'OK, we've got to take control of this, 25th Amendment.'"

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin – the closest thing to a conservative at that table – pointed out the obvious: if it didn't happen after January 6th, it was never going to happen.

Hostin said "25th Amendment" anyway.

The Amendment Has Never Once Been Used This Way

Section 4 of the 25th Amendment has never been successfully invoked against a sitting president – not once in American history.

The process requires the vice president and a majority of the cabinet to declare the president unable to serve, send it to Congress, and then win a two-thirds vote in both chambers.

Constitutional law experts have described it as even harder to execute than impeachment.

During Trump's first term, anonymous advisers reportedly whispered about it – then dropped the idea because "no one wanted to precipitate a constitutional crisis."

Democrats called for it after January 6th.

Pence said no.

Republicans called for it against Biden after the special counsel's report described his diminished memory.

Biden finished his term.

The amendment exists.

It has never done what Hostin is describing.

ABC Is Writing Her Checks to Say This on Television

Here's what the numbers actually show.

The View hosted 87 liberal guests and 5 conservatives in their entire 29th season.

Their highest-rated episode came when JD Vance showed up and pushed back – 3.33 million viewers tuned in to watch an actual conservative defend actual conservative policies.

Every other week, Sunny Hostin sits across from Joy Behar and they agree with each other about how mentally unfit Donald Trump is.

ABC sees those ratings. ABC signs those checks anyway.

Hostin has now invoked the 25th Amendment on air so many times it's her signature move – Trump's AI Jesus photo in April, the midterm coup fantasy in September.

Trump's cabinet isn't staging anything.

Republicans still control Congress.

The man she's been trying to remove since November 2024 wakes up every morning in the White House and runs the country.

The only thing getting removed is The View's relevance – one unwatched episode at a time.
