The View spent years telling America that character matters in politics.
Now one of its loudest voices just told you exactly what those standards were always worth.
Sunny Hostin went on live television Monday, listed every reason Graham Platner is unfit for office, then said she supports him anyway.
What She Actually Said Out Loud
Hostin didn't hedge.
She said she believes the cheating allegations are true because Platner's own wife disclosed the sexting to campaign staffers.
She said his claim that he wore a Nazi Totenkopf tattoo for 20 years without knowing what it meant is a lie.
She called him a racist, an anti-Semite, and a homophobe – then said Democrats need to win the Maine Senate seat.
"Character does matter," Hostin said on air.
She just made clear it doesn't matter enough to cost Democrats a vote.

Her co-hosts didn't go along with it.
Alyssa Farah Griffin told the table that the sexting was actually the least of her concerns, running through a longer list: Platner trashed a Purple Heart recipient and said he didn't deserve to live, defamed fallen Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, downplayed sexual assault reporting in the military, used anti-gay slurs as recently as 2021, called himself an avowed communist, and carried a Nazi tattoo for two decades.
Sara Haines put it plainly: "This man should be nowhere near Congress."
Hostin's position was that she's conflicted – as if reciting a man's moral failures and endorsing him anyway is a form of internal struggle rather than a public confession.
The Record She Weighed and Dismissed
Platner's scandals didn't happen all at once.
They came in waves, each one worse than the last, over a period of months leading into the June 9 Maine primary.
The tattoo came first – a skull-and-crossbones on his chest matching the Nazi SS Totenkopf used by Hitler's Death's Head units.
Platner said he got it drunk in Croatia with fellow Marines in 2007 and had no idea what it meant.

CNN's KFile then surfaced Reddit posts from the same era showing him discussing and appearing to justify the symbol – directly contradicting his claim of ignorance.
The Reddit posts were their own category of disqualifying.
In one, he wrote about a video of a soldier wounded in a Taliban ambush: the man didn't deserve to live, the Taliban had poor marksmanship, and his stupidity should serve as a lesson to future infantrymen.
The Wall Street Journal then reported the sexting – explicit messages exchanged with multiple women during his marriage, disclosed to campaign staff by his own wife after she discovered them.
Bernie Sanders campaigned with him anyway.
Senate Democrats like Chris Murphy defended him anyway.
And now Sunny Hostin has endorsed him anyway – after calling him every name that, applied to a Republican, would end a career before sundown.
When the Left's Rules Only Apply to Republicans
This is the part Democrats hope you forget.
The View spent four years insisting that character disqualifies candidates from public office.
Hostin herself has called Donald Trump a racist on air, demanded accountability for offensive rhetoric, and positioned herself as a moral standard-bearer for American politics.
The moment her team needed the seat, every standard she ever held evaporated in real time on national television.
Democrats built a political framework over the past decade where offensive language, Nazi imagery, and military disparagement are disqualifying offenses – and they built it specifically to deploy against Republicans.
Herschel Walker's flaws sank his 2022 Georgia Senate bid under exactly that pressure.

The same media apparatus now endorsing a man who spent 20 years with a Nazi death squad tattoo on his chest drove Walker out of contention for far less.
The rule was never about character.
The rule was always about power.
What Hostin Just Admitted on Camera
Hostin's endorsement is more revealing than anything Platner ever posted on Reddit.
She confirmed what conservatives have argued for years – that the left's moral outrage is tactical, not principled.
When the target is a Republican, racist language is disqualifying by definition.
When the target is a Democrat in a battleground race, it's a character flaw you calculate around.
Democrats need four net Senate seats to reclaim the majority, Maine is one of their best pickup opportunities on an otherwise brutal map, and Hostin did the math out loud on daytime television.
That's not being conflicted.
That's the confession.
