Biden spent four years telling us the border was secure while Americans died by the thousands from fentanyl flooding across our wide-open southern border.
Now drug overdose deaths just plummeted 20% in one year, and Democrats can't stand to admit what caused it.
Trump started blowing up Venezuelan drug boats, locked down the border, and Americans stopped dying.
Fentanyl Crisis Sees Historic Decline Under Trump Border Security Crackdown
Drug overdose deaths dropped more than 20% last year according to new CDC data, marking the steepest decline in decades.
Louisiana, Florida, and Virginia saw drops exceeding 30%.
Biden's team finally stepped up enforcement near the end of his term after years of criticism, and deaths started falling.
Then Trump returned to office and the decline accelerated.
"Securing the borders has a lot to do with the drop," retired NYPD sergeant Joseph Giacalone told Fox News Digital.
The CDC tracked deaths through August 2025 and found them at their lowest levels since June 2020.
Fentanyl seizures at the border peaked in spring 2023 at over 3,200 pounds monthly, then started falling as enforcement tightened.
By March 2025, seizures dropped to just 760 pounds.
That's not because cartels suddenly developed a conscience.
Trump made it clear he'd destroy their operations if they kept poisoning Americans.
Trump's Drug Trafficking Strikes On Venezuela Operations Change The Game
Between September and December 2025, Trump authorized over 29 strikes on alleged drug boats in the Caribbean and Pacific, killing more than 105 people.
The first strike came September 2 when the Navy destroyed a Venezuelan speedboat, killing all eleven crew members.
Trump posted video of the attack on Truth Social.
He wanted the cartels to see exactly what happens when you send poison toward American shores.
"The jury is still out on the effect of blowing up drug boats, but I can imagine it working as a deterrent as well," Giacalone said.
"Deterrence matters in criminal justice policy."
In late December, Trump revealed the U.S. had struck a land facility in Venezuela where drugs were being loaded onto boats.
"Two nights ago, we knocked that out," Trump told WABC radio.
He's moving from interdicting boats in international waters to hitting the cartels at the source.

Democrats desperately credit anything except border enforcement for the decline.
They point to naloxone distribution and better access to treatment medications like methadone and buprenorphine.
These things help.
But stopping poison from entering the country in the first place helps more.
Public health experts talk endlessly about harm reduction and evidence-based treatment, but get quiet when you mention Biden let millions of illegal aliens walk across the border while fentanyl poured through ports of entry.
The decline started when enforcement increased, not when social workers handed out more Narcan.
Research shows four out of five people caught smuggling fentanyl at ports of entry between 2019 and 2024 were U.S. citizens recruited by cartels.
Desperate Americans cross into Mexico, meet cartel contacts, and drive drugs back across the border.
Tighter screening at ports of entry catches more of them.
That's the dirty secret Democrats avoid discussing.
Migrants on foot didn't bring in the fentanyl that killed 48,000 Americans in 2024.
Americans in vehicles at ports of entry did, recruited by cartels because border security was a joke.
One State Proves The Rule
Only Arizona saw overdose deaths increase substantially, jumping 17.75% between August 2024 and 2025.
Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs runs a state where Phoenix and Tucson harbor massive cartel activity.
Arizona's border with Mexico is a cartel superhighway, and state leadership does nothing about it.
Maricopa County prosecutors finally started using a new state law to go after dealers whose drugs kill people, but they're playing catch-up after years of Democratic policies treating drug trafficking like a parking violation.
Three people a day died from fentanyl overdoses in Maricopa County alone as of 2023.
The rest of the country improved because Trump secured the border.
Arizona got worse because Democrats still run the state.
Every other state except North Dakota, Kansas, Hawaii, and New Mexico saw deaths decline, many dramatically.
Virginia dropped over 30%.
The pattern is unmistakable.
Strong border enforcement saves lives.
Democrats spent years calling border security racist and xenophobic while fentanyl killed over 100,000 Americans annually at the peak.
Now Trump proves border enforcement works, and they can't give him credit.
