There is no group of people on planet Earth who are more predictable than the American Left.
In almost every situation, the far-left’s reactions and strategy can easily be predicted before they even make their first move.
That’s why Senator Ted Cruz recently unleashed on Democrats’ theatrics to ban guns after every publicized shooting in America.
In the wake of shootings in Atlanta, Georgia and Boulder, Colorado, the far-left has predictably chosen to once again push gun control measures.
Rather than addressing the actual issues at play, Democrats immediately held a Senate hearing on gun violence in an effort to once again pass gun control legislation.
But during the Democrats’ hearing, one conservative Senator took a stand, and called the Left’s efforts for what they truly are – theatrics.
After admitting that something must be done to stop senseless acts of violence, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) unleashed on his Democrat colleagues for the “ridiculous” theatrics they deploy after every shooting.
“Every time there’s a shooting we play this ridiculous theatre where this committee gets together and proposes a bunch of laws that would do nothing to stop these murders,” Senator Cruz declared.
“What happens in this committee after every mass shooting is Democrats propose taking away guns from law-abiding citizens because that’s their political objective,” Cruz went on to rightly point out.
“But what they propose, not only does it not reduce crime, it makes it worse,” Cruz said. “The jurisdictions in this country with the strictest gun control have among the highest rates of crime and murder.”
“When you disarm law-abiding citizens, you make them more likely to be victims. If you want to stop these murders, go after the murderers,” Cruz concluded.
The Senator from Texas also addressed Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), who claimed Republicans do not have any solutions to gun violence, by pointing out that Cruz and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) previously proposed legislation to stop violent criminals, felons, fugitives and the mentally ill from illegally purchasing firearms.
As Cruz pointed out, the legislation passed with 52 votes in the Senate controlled by Democrats with nine Democrats joining every Republican, but other Democrats, including Senator Blumenthal, prevented it from going into law by filibustering the bill and demanding that it receive 60 votes in order to pass.
In closing, Senator Cruz reiterated that disarming law-abiding Americans and making them less is not the answer to gun violence, and also railed against the contempt Democrats have for sending “thoughts and prayers” to the victims of violent crimes, and their families.
“Every year firearms are used in the defensive capacity to defend women, children, families roughly a million times a year in the United States,” Cruz said. “The Democrats who want to take away the guns from those victims would create more victims of crimes not less.”
“I agree it’s a time for action, and by the way, I don’t apologize for thoughts or prayers,” he continued. “I will lift up in prayer people who are hurting and I believe in the power of prayer, and the contempt of Democrats for prayers is an odd sociological thing. But I also agree thoughts and prayers are not enough – we need action.”

In the end, Ted Cruz rather easily proved that Democrats aren’t interested in actually solving the issue of gun violence.
All they are interested in, as they’ve proven time and time again, is grandstanding and fulfilling their political objective of disarming law-abiding Americans.
But with Democrats having control of the Senate, House, and White House, they now feel emboldened and will stop at nothing to pass gun control as soon as possible.
We just have to hope more Republicans will join Senators like Ted Cruz in taking a stand.
