Transportation Secretary's daughter sounds alarm on unconstitutional agency
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy's pregnant daughter Evita Duffy-Alfonso went to war with the Transportation Security Administration after agents subjected her to what she called an "absurdly invasive pat-down" that nearly made her miss her flight.
Duffy-Alfonso, 26, made waves Thursday when she posted to X demanding President Trump and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem abolish the entire TSA.
"TSA = unreasonable, warrantless searches of passengers and their property. That means it violates the Fourth Amendment and is therefore unconstitutional. Pls abolish," she wrote.¹
The whole ordeal started when Duffy-Alfonso, who is pregnant with her first child, declined to walk through the TSA's body scanner because she didn't want radiation exposure for her unborn baby.
That decision triggered a 15-minute nightmare.
"I nearly missed my flight this morning after the TSA made me wait 15 minutes for a pat-down because I'm pregnant and didn't feel like getting radiation exposure from their body scanner," Duffy-Alfonso posted.²
The agents responded with passive-aggressive hostility when she and another pregnant woman refused to comply.
"The agents were passive-aggressive, rude, and tried to pressure me and another pregnant woman into just walking through the scanner because it's 'safe,'" she wrote.³
After finally enduring what she described as the invasive pat-down, she barely made her flight.
"All this for an unconstitutional agency that isn't even good at its job," she added.⁴
Government harassment for exercising your rights
Duffy-Alfonso connected the dots between TSA security theater and the surveillance state that Democrats spent years building.
She pointed out the whole system is designed to punish Americans who refuse to surrender their biometric data to private companies like CLEAR.
"Perhaps things would have gone more smoothly if I'd handed over my biometric data to a random private company (CLEAR). Then I could enjoy the special privilege of waiting in a shorter line to be treated like a terrorist in my own country," she wrote.⁵
The criticism cuts right to the heart of what the TSA has become since its creation after 9/11.
An agency that treats law-abiding Americans like criminals while foreign nationals board planes with zero scrutiny under Biden's open borders.
"Is this freedom? Travel, brought to you by George Orwell—and the privilege of convenience based solely on your willingness to surrender biometric data and submit to radiation exposure?" she asked.⁶
Duffy-Alfonso didn't mince words about what needs to happen to fix air travel in America.
"The 'golden age of transportation' cannot begin until the TSA is gone," she declared.⁷
When critics on social media pointed out her father runs the Transportation Department, she quickly set the record straight.
TSA falls under the Department of Homeland Security, not Transportation.
But she made clear where Sean Duffy stands on the bloated bureaucracy.
"If he did have TSA, he'd radically limit it and lobby Congress to abolish it," Duffy-Alfonso wrote.⁸
The pushback from her exposing TSA's failures shows how defensive the government gets when Americans call out unconstitutional overreach.
Republican Senators Mike Lee and Tommy Tuberville already introduced legislation in March to abolish the TSA and replace it with private security.
Their bill gives airports three years to transition to privatized security companies operating under limited federal oversight.
"The TSA has not only intruded into the privacy and personal space of most Americans, it has also repeatedly failed tests to find weapons and explosives," Lee said when introducing the measure.⁹
Lee's criticism echoes what millions of Americans experience every time they're forced to remove their shoes and get groped by federal agents just to board a plane.
The TSA consistently fails security tests while subjecting travelers to increasingly invasive searches.
Duffy-Alfonso made sure to clarify she fully supports Trump and Noem's border security crackdown.
"To be clear, I am 100% behind all that @POTUS & @DHS has done to keep out terrorists and illegals, especially at the border. In fact, President Trump & @Sec_Noem aren't getting enough credit for achieving zero illegal border crossings and stopping deranged terrorists from coming into the U.S.," she posted.¹⁰
The contrast is stark.
Trump's DHS secured the border and stopped actual threats while the TSA harasses pregnant women who won't submit to body scanners.
"But there needs to be more common sense around how we treat Americans exercising their right to travel. And I hope TSA works on improving their treatment of expectant mothers who don't want to go through body scanners to protect their unborn children," Duffy-Alfonso wrote.¹¹
