Ron DeSantis is making waves as the take-action Governor of Florida and is one of the most talked about contenders to take on President Joe Biden in 2024.
That’s why Democrats and their allies in Big Media are so eager to take him down.
But this Governor of a big Blue State regretted his decision to take on DeSantis once America’s Governor hit back.
Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom of California, for unexplained reasons, decided to put out an Independence Weekend ad in the Sunshine State attacking the state’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
We’re about to celebrate Independence Day — but Freedom is under attack by Republican leaders in states like Florida.
Making it harder to vote.

In the ad, Newsom tries his luck as a comedian, saying unlike Florida, there’s still freedom in the Golden State.
“We’re about to celebrate Independence Day — but Freedom is under attack by Republican leaders in states like Florida,” Newsom said. “Banning books. Restricting speech. Making it harder to vote. Criminalizing women and doctors. It’s time to stand up. Don’t let them take your freedom.”
I’ll give you a second to let the laughter die down.
DeSantis’ team wasted no time in firing back and owning Newsom in the process.
“The people of Florida pay no mind to the pathetic smear campaigns from the Democrats and their allies in the corporate media,” DeSantis campaign spokesman Dave Abrams said. “We’re too busy enjoying the freedom Gov. Ron DeSantis has created in the Sunshine State.”
There is speculation among political pundits that the ad is an early indication Newsom plans to run for the White House in 2024 and he views DeSantis as his chief rival.
“Gavin Newsom might as well light a pile of cash on fire,” Abrams said. “Pass the popcorn for his desperate attempt to win back the California refugees who fled the hellhole he created in his state to come to Florida.”
The fact is, while Newsom tried to lure Floridians to California, DeSantis is far more popular with his constituents than Newsom is with his.
In September of last year, Newsom barely survived a recall effort in the dark Blue State.
In fact, the most recent approval polling out of the Golden State, February of this year, found Newsom’s approval rating had dipped 16-points in about a year and half, down to just 48% approval.
Again, it’s important to note, that low approval number is in a state where 63.5% of voters pulled the lever for Joe Biden.
However, DeSantis is the governor of a traditionally Purple State – albeit one that has been trending Red since DeSantis became the Governor.
A survey from St. Pete Polls, also taken in February 2022, found DeSantis – the constant victim of Big Media lies and attacks – has a 54% approval rating.
It appears Gov. Newsom’s political instincts are about as on-point as his policy intuition.
