Americans are captivated by the bold actions Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis has been taking.
His star is rising at warp speed.
And just the other day, Ron DeSantis signed a new law that took everyone by surprise.
Republican voters continue to make it loud and clear to their elected officials that election integrity is one of their number one issues.
Many establishment Republicans have turned a deaf ear to their constituents, instead kowtowing to corporate CEOs that threaten to destroy their state’s economy if they don’t stop pushing these integrity measures.
But not Ron DeSantis.
Governor DeSantis appeared on Fox & Friends to sign Florida’s new election integrity law.
DeSantis said that this law will reassure voters that when they cast their ballots, it is done in a secure fashion.
No more worrying if your votes will be tampered with by the opposition.
“I have what we think is the strongest election integrity measures in the country,” DeSantis stated.
The aim of the bill is to ban ballot harvesting.
Ballot harvesting is when a third-party individual collects completed absentee or mail-in ballots and submits them, rather than the voter themselves directly submitting the ballot to a collection site.
“We’re making sure we’re enforcing voter ID . . . We’re also banning ballot harvesting. We’re not gonna let political operatives go and get satchels of votes to dump them in some dropbox,” DeSantis continued.
The legislation even goes as far as to ban the mass mailing of unsolicited ballots.
If you need an absentee ballot, you must request one.
“We’re also prohibiting mass mailing of balloting. We’ve had absentee voting in Florida for a long time. You request the ballot. You get it. And you mail it in. But to just indiscriminately send them out is not a recipe for success,” DeSantis concluded.
Florida just took one giant leap towards ensuring the integrity of future elections.
Americans can only hope that other states will follow DeSantis’ lead.
