Rand Paul Warns DOJ Only Has Days Left to Charge Fauci Before the Clock Runs Out Forever

The man who told a staffer to delete his emails just walked away with a book deal.

Now the clock is almost out – and if the Justice Department doesn't move this week, Anthony Fauci walks free forever.

Rand Paul just fired off a warning that the window to charge Fauci for the worst cover-up in modern American history is closing in days.

The Evidence Paul Says Makes This an Open-and-Shut Case

Paul posted on X Monday with an urgency he rarely uses publicly.

"The DOJ has ONE WEEK left to charge Anthony Fauci for the worst cover-up in modern medical history," he wrote.

He didn't leave it vague.

"He lied to Congress about funding gain-of-function research in Wuhan. Millions died. Trillions were spent. And Fauci walked away with book deals and fawning media coverage instead of handcuffs."

The criminal referral Paul re-submitted to the Justice Department isn't based on speculation.

It's based on emails.

In February 2020 – while the pandemic was spreading and Americans were being told the virus almost certainly came from nature – officials inside Fauci's circle were emailing each other about how to "get ahead of the science and narrative" on COVID origins.

That's not a typo.

They weren't trying to follow the science.

They were trying to get ahead of it.

Then there's the email Fauci sent to then-NIH Director Francis Collins directly.

"Please delete this e-mail after you read it."

That instruction – captured in recovered records – is now at the center of Paul's criminal referral.

A separate July 2020 email showed Fauci criticizing Paul while telling a staffer to delete that message too.

Paul's office says these communications directly contradict what Fauci told Congress under oath.

"Dr. Fauci misled Congress and the American people," Paul said. "The evidence is clear."

The Clock Expires This Week and the AG Knows It

Fauci's most damaging congressional testimony came in 2021.

Federal perjury carries a five-year statute of limitations.

Do the math.

Paul's office has been pushing for charges since at least 2023 – submitting criminal referrals, subpoenaing records, dragging Fauci back before committees.

The evidence came back exactly as Paul predicted.

The question was never whether the evidence existed.

The question is whether the Justice Department will use it before the window slams shut permanently – or quietly let the clock run out and hope nobody notices.

"Justice has been delayed long enough," Paul wrote Monday.

This Is What a Two-Tiered Justice System Looks Like

Think about what happened to people who lied to Congress during the Trump years.

Roger Stone. Peter Navarro. Steve Bannon.

They faced federal prosecution, prison sentences, and media coverage that treated their convictions as front-page victories for democracy.

Anthony Fauci told Congress the NIH did not fund gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

A 2021 letter from NIH Assistant Secretary Lawrence Tabak later acknowledged the agency had funded research that "could be classified" as gain-of-function.

Fauci has never been charged.

He completed a book tour, gave interviews to friendly journalists, and collected his federal pension while the same media that spent four years warning about threats to democracy never once asked why he was still free.

Paul has been the only consistent voice demanding accountability.

He made Fauci visibly uncomfortable in Senate hearings. He submitted criminal referrals. He pushed the Senate to subpoena records.

Now he's down to one last ask: act this week, or the clock expires and Fauci is legally untouchable forever.

If the AG lets that deadline pass, it won't just be Fauci who escapes justice.

It'll be a signal to every bureaucrat in Washington that you can lie to Congress, tell colleagues to destroy evidence, and fund dangerous research that kills millions – as long as you're on the right team.
