A potential red tidal wave is building ahead of next week’s Midterm elections.
Democrats are now facing competitive battles in unexpected places like deep blue New York.
And New York Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul told Al Sharpton one mind-blowing lie about soaring crime.
Democrat New York Governor Kathy Hochul is running for re-election against Republican candidate Lee Zeldin.
Hochul replaced disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo after he resigned following allegations of sexual harrassment and assault.
Since Democrats have easily won the last four gubernatorial elections, Hochul went into the campaign expecting to cruise to victory over Zeldin.
It’s been 20 years since the last competitive statewide race in New York.
But the momentum has heavily shifted in the GOP’s direction in recent weeks.
In Democrat-controlled cities and states, Republicans are reminding voters that the Left’s pro-criminal policies are the reason for soaring crime in America.
And with just one week left until Election Day, polling shows Lee Zeldin has pulled within single digits of Kathy Hochul.
New York’s skyrocketing crime and Hochul’s pro-criminal history are the reasons for Zeldin’s surge.
A recent report by the New York City government found crime increased by 30 percent from July of 2021 to July of 2022.
Republicans have been reminding voters that as a State Senator, Hochul supported the no-cash bail law that allows violent criminals back on the streets.
But Kathy Hochul is trying to convince New Yorkers to ignore the crime they see with their own eyes.
During a recent interview with MSNBC, Hochul discussed Zeldin attacking her on the issue of crime with host Al Sharpton.
“Is your campaign concerned that this issue might allow Zeldin to close the gap?” Sharpton asked.
Hochul responded by first calling anyone who points out the reality of soaring crime “master manipulators” who are spreading “conspiracy” theories similar to the “election deniers.”
“They have this conspiracy going all across America trying to convince people that in Democratic states, they’re not as safe,” Hochul said. “Well guess what?” she continued, before adding that “they’re also not only election deniers, they’re data deniers.”
Hochul then blamed pro-Second Amendment supporters on the rise in crime while claiming Democrat areas are the safest places.
“It’s the Republican states where they have almost no restrictions on guns,” Hochul said. “The safer places are the Democratic states,” she added.
Hochul is ignoring the fact that in Republican states with high crime rates, the overwhelming majority takes place inside Democrat-controlled big cities like Atlanta.
Predominantly Democrat-led cities have recorded larger increases in homicide rates when compared to Republican-led cities.
But Kathy Hochul is conveniently ignoring that data.
And it could put a Republican in the Governor’s Mansion for the first time in four cycles.
