Netflix Just Handed Kamala Harris a Campaign Launch Pad Two Years Before the Election

Kamala Harris lost to Donald Trump by more than two million votes in 2024.

Now Netflix is spending millions to put her back on your screen before you've had a chance to forget the border, the inflation, and the cackle.

The woman who couldn't answer a single question about what she'd do differently than Joe Biden is back – and this time she brought Hollywood.

Netflix Gives a Twice-Failed Candidate a Primetime Relaunch

The American Experiment drops on Netflix June 24 – conveniently timed just before America's 250th birthday and suspiciously timed just as Harris's 2028 chatter hits critical mass.

The documentary pitches itself as a bipartisan exploration of America's founding, featuring former vice presidents, historians, and "thought leaders across the political spectrum."

Kamala Harris is front and center.

The same Kamala Harris who ran a historically disastrous campaign, lost a race Democrats insisted was unlosable, and told The View that "not a thing comes to mind" she would have done differently than the most unpopular president in modern history.

Netflix is now packaging her as a serious voice on American democracy.

The Pattern Democrats Never Learn

Every failed major party presidential candidate since 1972 has produced at least one retread candidacy the next cycle.

Al Gore lost in 2000 and spent the next decade positioning himself as America's elder statesman – documentary included.

Hillary Clinton lost in 2016 and spent four years doing the exact same thing Harris is doing right now: staying visible, staying relevant, dropping hints.

Romney ran again after 2008. Dole ran after his Senate losses.

The list goes on.

Political strategists have a phrase for this: "the doomed repeat candidate."

Harris has now teased a 2028 run at multiple events.

"Listen, I might, I might. I'm thinking about it," she told Al Sharpton at the National Action Network Convention in April.

That's three months of "I might" and now a Netflix documentary.

She is running.

JD Vance Holds the Cards

While Harris builds her Hollywood comeback arc, JD Vance is sitting in the Naval Observatory with the full weight of the incumbent party machine behind him.

A Political Polls survey from this week shows Vance at 38 percent and Harris at 37 percent in potential 2028 matchups.

But that number tells a misleading story.

Add Marco Rubio's 18 percent – Rubio has already said publicly he'd back Vance on day one – plus Don Jr.'s 10 percent, and the Republican coalition enters 2028 with 66 percent unified behind one candidate before a single vote is cast.

Harris, meanwhile, is fighting off Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for the Democratic nomination while simultaneously trying to explain why the 2024 election wasn't her fault.

She'll win the Netflix audience.

She won't win the Electoral College.

What This Actually Is

Here's what fires me up about this story.

Kamala Harris didn't lose in 2024 because of bad luck or bad timing.

She lost because voters watched four years of her in national office and decided – in decisive numbers – that she wasn't up to the job.

A documentary about American democracy doesn't change that.

Netflix giving her a platform doesn't change that.

Seventy-five million votes in 2024 wasn't close enough to win.

And the historical record is brutal: since 1856, general election losers who ran again for the presidency have won exactly twice – Grover Cleveland in 1892 and Richard Nixon in 1968.

Both of them came back after exceptionally close races.

Harris lost by more than two million votes.

Democrats can put Kamala Harris in every documentary, book tour, and bipartisan panel Netflix will produce between now and 2028.

The voters already gave their verdict.
