Joe Biden called Georgia's voter ID law racist and predicted it would crush turnout.
Chris Murphy just revived that exact script against Trump's new election bill.
But then NBC's Ryan Nobles asked him one question live on air that he refused to answer.
Murphy Calls It Rigging Then Can't Defend His Own Position
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) sat across from Ryan Nobles on Meet the Press Sunday and accused President Trump of trying to "rig the election" with the SAVE America Act.
Nobles asked him a simple follow-up.
If a clean vote came to the floor requiring nothing but a photo ID to vote, would Murphy support it.
Murphy didn't say yes.

He didn't say no either.
He said it "depends on what it looks like in Connecticut," then pivoted straight into talking points about a "national voter list."
A United States senator could not commit to the single most popular election requirement in the country, on national television, when asked directly.
That moment tells you everything about what this fight is actually about.
The Bill Murphy Won't Defend Against
The SAVE America Act does two things Murphy doesn't want to discuss honestly.
It requires documentary proof of citizenship to register and photo ID to vote in federal elections.
It also directs the Department of Homeland Security to help states scrub noncitizens off voter rolls.
Murphy claims there's "zero evidence" of any problem at scale.
Utah just spent ten months combing through more than two million registered voters looking for exactly that problem.
They found one noncitizen registration and not a single noncitizen vote.
That's not evidence the system is clean – that's evidence the system has never been properly checked in the first place, and Republicans finally built the tool to check it.
President Trump has called the bill "one of the most IMPORTANT & CONSEQUENTIAL pieces of legislation," and he's refused to sign a bipartisan housing bill until the Senate moves on it.
That's not the behavior of a man bluffing.
America Has Run This Exact Experiment Before
Georgia passed its own Election Integrity Act in 2021 and Democrats reacted with the exact script Murphy is running now.
Stacey Abrams called it a "redux of Jim Crow."
Joe Biden compared supporters of the law to George Wallace and Jefferson Davis from a podium in Atlanta.
Coca-Cola, Delta, and Major League Baseball all piled on, and MLB yanked its All-Star Game out of the state in protest.
Then Georgia held an election under the new law.
Turnout didn't collapse – it set a new midterm record, topping the prior cycle's total and adding half a million newly registered voters along the way.
The Heritage Foundation later confirmed Georgia's turnout decline from 2018 to 2022 was less than half the national average drop.
Every prediction Murphy's party made about Georgia turned out false, and they never apologized for any of it.
Why Murphy Really Cares About the National List
Murphy let the real objection slip on air himself.
He said the national voter list would let Trump "go in and take people out of it" so Trump could later claim state elections were manipulated.
Strip away the senator-speak and the real objection is simple.
Murphy isn't worried about citizens losing their vote – he's worried about losing the ability to keep messy, unverified rolls exactly as they are.

A federal cross-check against DHS records doesn't remove a single legitimate citizen, it removes people who were never eligible to be on the list in the first place.
That's not rigging an election – that's the opposite of rigging an election.
Murphy's own logic gives away the game – he wants Trump blamed for asking the question, not Democrats blamed for resisting the answer.
Sen. Chris Murphy also told Nobles that Trump is the "biggest threat" facing the country right now, bigger than any policy fight on the table.
That's a remarkable thing to say about a bill whose entire ask is a photo ID and a clean list.
History already ran this play once in Georgia, and the only thing that got proven was that the warnings were wrong.
