Nancy Pelosi helped Big Tech kill the landmark AI safety bill in California.
Now a chatbot is being used to attack her chosen candidate – and she wants it shut down.
What she said to stop it just handed her opponent the best line of the campaign.
The Chatbot That Broke the Left
State Sen. Scott Wiener is running to replace Pelosi in California's 11th Congressional District – and he built a campaign chatbot called ConnieChan.ai to highlight his opponent Supervisor Connie Chan's record of blocking housing, defunding police, and strangling public transit.
The bot bills itself as "the world's first AI trained to say no to anything you ask."
Pelosi signed a letter with other female Democrats calling the chatbot a "gross misuse of technology" – accusing Wiener of using AI to "fabricate a woman's voice for ridicule or attack."

She went further, claiming the bot's responses compound "with racial stereotypes that have historically been used to question women's credibility, leadership, and belonging."
The supposed smoking gun from Chan's campaign was a single screenshot where the bot said, "I'm afraid my San Francisco accent is so thick I can barely understand myself."
Politico tried to reproduce the racist and sexist results Chan's team alleged.
They couldn't.
Pelosi Got Caught Holding the Hypocrisy Bag
Wiener didn't take the attack quietly.
He pointed out that Pelosi personally helped kill Senate Bill 1047 – his landmark AI safety legislation supported by labor unions, national security experts, biosecurity experts, and progressive leaders across California.
Pelosi – now positioned as the defender of women against AI harms – blocked the very bill designed to regulate AI.
She sided with Big Tech to kill it.
Now she's upset that someone is using AI in a way she doesn't like.

Every single elected official who co-signed Pelosi's letter against the chatbot is also a Chan endorser.
This is not a principled stand against AI misuse.
This is a campaign press release dressed up in feminist language.
When the Woke Machine Turns on Itself
This is the story your grandkids will read about when they study what destroyed the Democratic Party.
Wiener is perhaps the most aggressively progressive state senator in California – the man who championed transgender legislation, pushed aggressive homeless policies, and built his entire brand around being the furthest left person in every room.
Trans-pride march activists kicked him out this summer for not being woke enough on Gaza.
Pelosi is now calling him sexist for a chatbot that Politico couldn't even confirm produced anything objectionable.
Chan's campaign is calling him a tool of "Big AI" for using the same technology that every Democrat in San Francisco claims to support regulating – while simultaneously partnering with Anthropic, the company founded by San Francisco liberals, to power the bot.
This is what happens when a party builds its entire identity around victimhood and intersectionality.
Eventually, there are no innocent people left.
Everyone is simultaneously a victim and an oppressor.
Wiener – a gay Jewish man who has spent decades championing every progressive cause imaginable – now stands accused of racism and sexism by the same movement he helped build.
He unleashed this machine.
Now it's eating him alive.
The real crime here isn't the chatbot.
The real crime is that Nancy Pelosi held a seat in Congress for nearly four decades while San Francisco became the national symbol of everything that happens when radical leftists run a city unchallenged.

The school board that spent a pandemic renaming Abraham Lincoln High School instead of reopening classrooms.
Pelosi's legacy isn't defeating Republicans.
Her legacy is the city she leaves behind – and the two candidates now fighting over her seat, each accusing the other of racism and sexism over a chatbot that nobody can prove said anything wrong.
That's the San Francisco story.
