Tim Walz and Jacob Frey pushed Trump too far.
They thought their sanctuary city posturing would protect them from federal law.
And Mike Davis dropped one deadly warning that has Democrats in full panic.
Mike Davis Warns Insurrection Act Could Send Military to Minneapolis
Mike Davis doesn't mince words when it comes to Democrat politicians thinking they can defy federal immigration law.
The Article III Project president laid out exactly what Tim Walz and Jacob Frey are facing if they continue blocking ICE operations in Minneapolis.
"Immigration is controlled by Congress," Davis told Fox News host Will Cain. "Federal law is the supreme law of the land."
Davis explained that Trump isn't asking permission to enforce immigration law — he's executing his constitutional duty as President.
Walz and Frey are doing something Democrats haven't tried since the Civil War: using force to resist federal law enforcement.
"You have these Confederates like Democrat politicians, like Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis, Mayor Jacob Frey, who think that they can by force resist these immigration efforts," Davis stated.
That's textbook insurrection.
That's textbook seditious conspiracy.
Those are very serious federal felonies.
Davis warned both politicians they're "playing a very deadly game here" that could land them in federal prison.
Trump's Insurrection Act Threat Puts Tim Walz and Jacob Frey in Legal Jeopardy
Protests exploded across Minneapolis after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Good on January 7th.
Walz and Frey responded by demanding ICE "get the f**k out of Minneapolis" and ordering state resources to interfere with federal operations.
That crossed a constitutional line Democrats haven't touched in 160 years.
Trump can invoke the Insurrection Act — a law passed by Congress specifically for situations where state politicians rebel against federal authority.
"The president can and should invoke the Insurrection Act, which is passed by Congress to allow the president to federalize the Minnesota National Guard," Davis explained.
Once federalized, Walz loses control of his own National Guard.
Those troops answer to Trump, not the Governor who's been protecting illegal aliens and obstructing federal law enforcement.
"President Trump could send in the active duty military forces into Minnesota, into Minneapolis to put down the rebellion, to put down the insurrection," Davis added.
The Insurrection Act has been invoked about 30 times in American history.
George H.W. Bush used it during the 1992 LA riots after Rodney King.
Eisenhower and JFK used it to enforce desegregation against rebellious Southern governors who thought states' rights trumped federal law.
Trump already tried deploying National Guard troops to LA, Portland, and Chicago in 2025.
Courts blocked those deployments after extended legal battles.
But the Insurrection Act is different — Trump doesn't need state permission when the governor is actively leading an insurrection against federal law.
Democrats Could Trigger Deadly Confrontations Between Law Enforcement
Davis raised the stakes even higher with a chilling question about where Democrat defiance leads.
Local Democrat politicians are ordering their police to arrest ICE agents who are executing federal immigration law.
"If these Democrat politicians — you're hearing that they want to arrest ICE agents around the country when these ICE agents are executing federal immigration laws," Davis warned.
That setup creates a nightmare scenario.
"That could lead to deadly force being used by ICE agents against state and local law enforcement," Davis stated.
ICE agents have the legal authority to enforce federal immigration law.
When local cops try to arrest them for doing their jobs, those federal agents have the right to defend themselves.
"Are these Democrat politicians really trying to cause a civil war here?" Davis asked. "Are these Democrat politicians trying to end up in federal prison for the rest of their lives, or worse?"
Legal experts confirm Trump has the constitutional authority even though Democrats claim he's abusing presidential power.
The Brennan Center for Justice calls Trump's threatened use "unprecedented" because protests started after federal agents Trump sent created the crisis.
But Davis and other constitutional scholars point to a critical fact liberals ignore: the violence in Minneapolis isn't protesters defending civil rights.
It's sanctuary city politicians using force to prevent the federal government from enforcing immigration law Congress passed.
That's exactly what the Insurrection Act was designed to stop.
After the ICE shooting on January 7th, another federal agent shot a man with a shovel on January 15th after the man attacked him.
Protesters responded by shooting fireworks at police and federal agents.
Even Frey had to admit protesters were spiraling out of control when he urged them to go home after the second shooting.
"We cannot counter Donald Trump's chaos with our own brand of chaos," Frey said Wednesday night.
Too late.
Walz and Frey spent a week calling ICE agents invaders, demanding they leave, and marshaling state resources to block federal law enforcement.
They cultivated exactly the confrontation Davis warned about.
Now Trump is weighing whether to take the nuclear option and send active duty military into a major American city to restore federal authority.
Democrats created this standoff.
And Mike Davis just spelled out how badly it could end for them.
