Being the son of the greatest basketball player of all time, could be even harder.
And Michael Jordan was shaking his head when his son made this awful decision.
Michael Jordan’s son arrested for DUI and drugs in Florida
34-year-old Marcus Jordan is the youngest son of former Chicago Bulls Michael Jordan.
Marcus played for three seasons at the University of Central Florida Golden Knights before he decided to end his basketball career.
Since then, he’s been known for trying to develop a career in reality TV and dating Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa Pippen – the ex-wife of his dad’s Bulls teammate Scottie Pippen.
Marcus Jordan ended up in the headlines for all the wrong reasons after he was arrested in Maitland, Florida, a suburb of Orlando.
Maitland Police arrested him for DUI, resisting arrest without violence, and possession of cocaine.
Jordan’s Lamborghini SUV was stuck on train tracks with a commuter train about 10 minutes away from passing through the area.
“I stood at the window and immediately detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle,” the police report from the arresting officer stated. “The defendant kept saying he made a wrong turn and needed assistance getting his vehicle off the railroad tracks. I noticed the driver had slurred speech and he was confused where he was located. I noticed the driver had red bloodshot and glassy eyes.”
Jordan tried to get the officers to push his Lamborghini off the tracks but police made him get out of the vehicle.
He tried to drop his famous dad’s name during the encounter.
“Bro, I’m Marcus Jordan. I’m Michael Jordan’s son,” Jordan said to one officer. “I’m not doing anything wrong. I’m just trying to get home. And I made a wrong turn. OK?”
But that didn’t work and he was hauled into the Orange County DUI Center.
Officers reported that their vehicle had a strong smell of alcohol and Jordan sang the entire ride.
It was later revealed that he had spent the night traveling to several establishments in the Orlando area including a strip club.
Marcus Jordan breaks his silence about his arrest
Jordan was out the next day and got himself back to work at the Trophy Room, a boutique sneaker and apparel store he owns in Orlando.
“I appreciate everyone reaching out. I’m focusing on [the Trophy Room] right now and won’t be making any comments on recent media stories and my personal life,” Jordan wrote on Instagram. “I sincerely appreciate your concerns & thank you for your kind understanding.”
This wasn’t his first run-in with the law.
Jordan got into an argument with two women outside of a hotel in Omaha, Nebraska in 2012.
He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstructing justice.
