Megyn Kelly knows Fox News better than most.
She spent 14 years there building her career.
But Megyn Kelly turned on Fox News and made one admission that left conservatives stunned.
Kelly Compares Fox Coverage to Russian Propaganda
Megyn Kelly torched her former employer over its coverage of Trump's Venezuela operation.
The conservative host pulled no punches during Monday's episode of The Megyn Kelly Show on SiriusXM.
"I turned on Fox News yesterday, and I'm sorry, but it was like watching Russian propaganda," Kelly said.
She didn't stop there.
"There was nothing skeptical," Kelly continued. "It was all rah-rah cheerleading, yes, let's go."
She said she would have known exactly what to do when Trump launched the operation to capture Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.
"I would have known that I was supposed to cheerlead it," Kelly explained.
But Kelly admitted she's learned from past mistakes.
"I have done that enough times in my career as a Fox News anchor to have been embarrassed enough to know I'm going to stay on the yellow light for this," Kelly stated.
"I'm not in the green-light territory. I'm not in the red-light territory either. But I am staying in the yellow-light territory for now," Kelly added.
Kelly Warns Against Repeating Iraq and Libya Mistakes
Kelly said she understands Russia, China, and Cuba were moving in on Venezuela's oil.
But she's seen this movie before.
"I have seen what happens when you cheerlead, unabashedly, U.S. intervention in foreign countries, thinking it's for our good and for the national and the international good, only to wind up with what we've called a quagmire in places like Iraq, not to mention Libya," Kelly said.
The results aren't pretty when America tries nation-building.
"We're not great at going into these foreign countries, decapitating them at the leadership level, and then saying either we're going to steer the country to a better place or it's going to steer itself," Kelly explained.
Trump announced the U.S. military could put "boots on the ground" in Venezuela to maintain order.
That's where Kelly drew the line.
"Well, whose boots?" Kelly questioned. "Because I have a 16-year-old boy, and I have a 12-year-old boy, and I have a 14-year-old girl, and a lot of my listeners have children too, who are actually the ones who might have to fill the boots."
She said she speaks for many parents when she says caution is needed.
"I think I speak for a lot of moms and dads for that matter when I say I'm staying in yellow territory until we know more, and I will not be joining the Fox News cheerleading brigade this time," Kelly stated.
Then Kelly delivered the kicker.
"I've been burned too many times," she added.
Kelly's comments stood in stark contrast to Fox News anchors like Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Jesse Watters who enthusiastically defended Trump's Venezuela operation on air Monday night.
Hannity suggested Venezuela owed American companies oil.
Ingraham called Trump's move a "needed global reset."
Watters dramatically recounted the military operation while emphasizing the President's success.
Kelly pointed to the history of U.S. military interventions that started with widespread support before turning into disasters.
American support for the Iraq War stood at 72% when it began in March 2003.
By 2023, only 36% of Americans believed the Iraq War was justified.
Kelly knows that same pattern could repeat itself with Venezuela if things go wrong.
That's why she's refusing to jump on the bandwagon this time around.
Her 14 years at Fox News taught her a painful lesson about blindly cheerleading foreign interventions.
And she's not making that mistake again.
