Mitch McConnell has been a fixture in Washington, D.C.’s “Swamp” for decades.
But a recent health scare is putting his future in question.
And Megyn Kelly asked one question about Mitch McConnell that was on everyone’s mind.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) had another incident where he froze up in the middle of a speech.
The Kentucky lawmaker was giving a press conference when a reporter asked the 81-year-old about reelection in 2026.
He froze up and stared off into the distance prompting an aide to shut down the press conference.
That became the second incident in recent months where McConnell froze in the middle of speaking to reporters.
His doctor cleared him to return to work saying that dehydration was to blame and it could have been a potential side effect of a concussion he suffered earlier this year when he fell.
Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly wondered where McConnell’s family was after his latest concerning health incident on her SiriusXM show.
“So I take no pleasure in any of this, but the fact is, he doesn’t seem well enough to be a sitting U.S. Senator anymore. He just doesn’t,” Kelly said. “If we’re gonna call out the John Fettermans and the Dianne Feinsteins of the world, we’re derelict if we don’t do it to the Mitch McConnells of the world. He’s not being open about what’s happening to him.”
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has faced pressure to resign after missing much of the Senate session while the 90-year-old was out with the shingles.
Kelly said that the spouses of elderly politicians like President Joe Biden, Feinstein, and McConnell should get them to retire.
“I do wonder — I think it’s a fair question — where is Jill Biden? Where’s [McConnell’s wife] Elaine Chao? Where’s Dianne Feinstein’s partner? I don’t know . . . Where are they?” Kelly wondered.
She added that it shouldn’t be up to the public to “kick them out” when they become unable to carry out their political responsibilities.
Kelly wanted them to “go gracefully into the sunset with our thanks, our salute.”
“Because I know God forbid this ever happened to me, my husband would say, Honey, you’re the bomb,” Kelly continued. “But it’s going to be super fun for us to travel the Grand Canyon and the great parks of the United States together at this point in your career. This is what we’re going to do. It’s going to be the fun next phase of life for us. And maybe it’s time to step away from the lectern in the US Senate or the microphone in the case of somebody like me. Where are they?”
McConnell has been the top Republican in the Senate for nearly two decades.
Now a major change to Senate Republican leadership could be on the way with his health in question.
